Not useable in Kindle form
It may be a good book in paper form but it's unusable in Kindle form. The Kindle version has all the text squished to one side of the page with most of the page blank. Some of the text doesn't display at all, like at the bottom of the page the text should continues to the next page but there are paragraphs that do not flow to the next page. The paragraphs are just gone. Many of the pictures are refereed to in the text do not appear near the text that describes them, they occur many pages later and other pictures are near that text so you are not sure what text is for what picture. It does have intresting discussions and pictures so the paper version might be good, I just don't know.

Useful Book
I'm getting back into home sewing after many years inactive. This book is a valuable reference for those of us looking to preserve well-made garments - replacing a lining in an old but beautifully-tailored coat, for example. I also like the section about lining cardigans, it makes good sense. As for the skirts & pants, it's common sense how much better both of those garments fit/drape with a nice lining. For those of us who appreciate well-tailored garments, this book is worth its weight in gold. Thrifters who are interested in brushing up on their sewing skills might find this book to be invaluable. I've already committed to lining one of my husband's semi-cheapy zip-up fleece jackets to help cut the wind when he's burning leaves etc. This book has a lot of ideas to help improve/extend the life of garments you already own that could use some upgrade tweaking. Money well spent!

Just what I needed
Marvellous! I make my own patterns and this book has helped me line a coat that I have drafted. Lots of easy to understand diagrams and notes. This is a book that I will use repeatedly. However, there is more to be written about linings. The book doesn't cover everything or advanced techniques, but it covers the basics.

Comprehensive explanations and advice for making linings
I prefer to line most garments I make even if the pattern does not provide guidance for this, so I have been working out for myself how to line skirts and dresses for a few years and noted one or two problem areas. This book explains exactly how to deal with the problems I have encountered, as it gives adjustments for making lining patterns from any garment pattern, and information about how to attach and neaten the linings. There are lots of diagrams and photographs and the explanations are clear and easy to follow. The book is divided into different types of garment (skirt, trousers, dresses, blouses etc)and gives options for different approaches to lining each, with advice on how to choose.

Choose the lining style that best suits your need
Content as expected. Well informative. The author teaches how to sew linings to various garments, using text and exemplifing sewing techniques with numerous pictures. In my opinion you need some previous sewing experience to find the book helpful.Excerpts from the book cover says:You will learn how to:Make a lining pattern when the garment pattern doesn't include one.Choose the lining style that best suits your need.Sew both traditional and quick liningsLine a sheer or lace garment.Line a vented skirt.Put a zip out lining in your coat.It is a pity such a good book is out of print. Hard to read
With reference books for sewing I like lots of illustrations, and in this area, this book is lacking. You have to read, and concentrate on what you're reading. Alas, its not something that I can just flick through quickly to refresh my memory when working on a lined project, which is what i was hoping for.
