For over 100 year, the Colavolpe family in Calabria has been making Le Crocette - Little Crosses. Fresh figs are quartered to form a cross, stuffed with almonds, walnuts and orange peels then coated with their "secret" syrup whose recipe is guarded as a priceless treasure. The figs are slowly baked, cooled then hand packed in a beautiful box.
