This is the second gate of this brand I have. The first one I just bought new hardware for because I lost the old hardware in a move. The first gate which is larger then this one is still going strong after 13 years of owning it and going through 2 households. I've had in it for 13 years and my sister had if for 2 years before that.I honestly will never buy another type of gate for my home. It's dependable, can swing out of the way when not in use and I have hung two locations for closers. If we want our children to start only in the living room we hook it to one walk and have a second closer are if we want to allow access to the hallway and living room. Makes it nice to have a choose of ways of closing of different parts of the house with one gate.

Works well, easy to install and keeps our fur family member out of the room as needed.Opens and closes easily or swing it back like a door.

We used this gate in an unconventional way, but is a great product. We installed it to keep our dogs in the RV. The hinge is simple and clever. The latch is very effective. The build quality and material are excellent. In a sea of options, you will not be disappointed with this product.

This is the 4th of these we own. We have one separating an area of our kitchen to let our dogs dry from outside and keep our toddler out of their water bowls. We have 2 more spray painted out on our deck, again for toddler and dogs. Another for a doorway at camp that is too narrow for a normal baby gate. The deck is on the ground, and the only way I would use these gates. They bend significantly each way when pushed on and I wouldn't trust them above steps.

but it should loosen up with time. This is the second one I've bought. They're good.

Great gate but the latch is hard to use. Since we're using it for dogs, not toddlers, I took it off and put in eye screws and a rod. That's the only reason I downgraded the overall rating to 4 stars.

Measure before you buy. This item has safety rivets to prevent you from opening too wide. Very frustrating. Cheap wood. It's not meant for heavy use.
