Pretty cool tool. May come in handy one day.Update Jan 2022. The roll pin that holds the tension knob in place fell out several years ago(Nov2017). Recently found another pin and returned item to service. Still 4 stars.

The seller provided fast shipment. The Klax is exactly what I was expecting. The ability to break it down makes packing it a lot less bulky. It also provides more functionality then most regular axes. Perfect for the on the go and longer hikes.

Very well constructed, but I'd be hesitant to buy without the handle.

As my title states the ace loosens after one hit, so taking several hits in a row makes the axe head very loose. This is an item that looks great on paper and in a picture on amazon but fail to live up to what they are selling. Don't buy this I've tried everything to make it work over a three day camping trip, but failed to find a way to not feel as if this product is UNSAFE. Do yourself a favor and buy a stand alone axe from Fiskars or the equivalent you'll be happy.

I've been getting into more and more bushcraft and I've been going out and actually using the tools to cut and make stuff...This axe head has a horrible blade the handle is very beefy and I'm a big guy and I tend to loose my grip with it due to the size and gloss surface..The ideal of being able to pack the blade up and save space sounds fantastic!! Till you actually make one and realize you need to cut 3 inches down and a quarter inch wide.. And you need knocktes to keep the head from tilting up... I gave up I'll post a picture of my axe handle next weekend when I go back up I actually spent some time making my own handle for it to turn into firewood due to it just not working like it should...The blade constantly comes loose and every couple swings you have to re-tighten the hex and the stripping blade under the head does come in handy but I've cut my finger open more then I actually used it... So im sorry I feel that was a bad choice. I have a small axe I got in a battlbox that I thought was worthless because of the size yet I used it more then this... That's saying something like I said above the axe blade is built like a splitter it has a thick edge and feels more like it should split wood then cut wood. So the mini hatchet that actually has a sharp tip ended up just cutting and doing a better job then the heavier sharper klecker axe..Now I did put more of an edge on it and I'll keep trying to make handles for the hatchet and I'll keep seeing if it will ever get better but as of right now I can't recommend it.. Just buy a custom built one in America for less then this that will do more for you.
