Don't miss this one!
Beautiful production of a timeless classic. So worth watching, even for people who aren't opera lovers.

Loved the singing & the setting
The singing was marvelous , Orpheo had such stamina and a beautiful counter tenor voice . The music, dancing, staging and lighting. We're well suited to the piece and I loved seeing the inside of the cesky krumlov baroque theatre. I had visited the castle a couple of months ago but missed out on the theatre.

To everyone involved, thank you.
The opera itself is a treasure to begin with but I can't speak highly enough of this production. All effort is placed on heightening the drama of the opera, as Gluck would have wanted. It's a very modern production but not because of some contrived re-imagining or stage-design. I read somewhere the production is given a modern psychological reading. What this means is that when you watch it, you relate to certain glances, looks and gestures because we know the emotions they express. Singing, stage and costumes are all extremely stylized and Baroque but the emotions are raw and modern. The closeness of filming lets us see those emotions. The singing is of course a joy, but any opera is a collaborative effort and every time watch this I find something additional to appreciate. It might be the lighting, or how the colours of the costumes change according to the light and the drama. It's like everyone, whether lighting crew, costume designers, stage designers and so on used their knowledge of their craft for the one purpose and a love for what they were making. That all this skill is quietly applied is the most amazing thing of all. I'll keep looking, but I don't think I'll see anything as perfect as this for quite a while. Thank you.

A wonderful setting for Gluck's masterpiece - Cesky Krumlov's baroque 18th Century theatre
A wonderful production, and set in the simply stunning 18th Century Baroque theatre in the castle at Ceskny Krumlov. The theatre too is a must see, almost entirely in its original condition. Bejun Mehta's voice is wonderful to hear too of course.

An intriguing version of Orfeo ed Euridice
This is an unusual but fascinateing approach to Gluck's masterpiece.

Tutti bravissimi

Unglaublich... Bejun Mehta ist nun Mal etwas Besonderes. Sein Lebenslauf im Wikipedia ist beeindruckend.
