Benefit of the doubt, this gets a four star review because the last 10% of it saved it from a 3. No spoilers, but the ending of this used a couple of pretty well known tropes I can think of famous examples of, and it lived up to them pretty well, and in a way that was consistent with the author's style. T C Edge is a decent writer, and although I didn't like this book as much as #1 of the series I still want to read the last part. I spent a good deal of this one trying to tolerate the main character reverting back to being a compulsive teenager just when I thought she was learning to accept what growing up and being a soldier meant, and although it does drive the chain of events, her juvenile behaviour and thoughts were at times rather annoying - she sometimes refuses to see a bigger picture beyond saving her friends even when they tell here there's more to the world than them. This aside though, it's a pretty solid book even if things do become a little too convenient and there's one rather obvious plot twist concerning a main character.

Don't bother
Hi hum, very much like other young adult books jumping on the bandwagon of Divergent and Hunger Games

Disappointing
The first book was great, but this one is disappointing. The storyline of jealousy is too obvious and distracts from the main story. The second book does not have the rigour and quality of the first one and some of the devlpomnets drag on for too long.

Brilliant
A gripping high octane continuation of the watchers of eden. I would thoroughly recommend this book - had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Looking forward to the final book.

Very good
Very well written, good plot if a little predictable, nevertheless I enjoyed this book immensely and look forward to the next one

SPOILERS
I am a middle-aged woman who has no business really reading teen novels but sometimes I need them to break up the intensity of the adult literature I read. I thought this would be a light interlude. Boy was I wrong.I have become entangled I Cyra's life through this story....I am sobbing as I write this. The love story that will not happen. Theo took all the punches and kicks, literally, for the love of Cyra... To have it end this way broke my heart.Toby this is your best writing. To move a readers heart the way that you have moved mine is a wonderful thing. I never expected it. Thank you. I look forward to the next book. I hope it cheers me up a bit! Keep writing.

Another great adventure!
Lots of daring action taking the story through various dimensions. Tinged with great joy and great sadness. Looking forward to more!

Very good
Book two of this series has more action, although, book one was more intriguing because of the questions surrounding the mystery of things. However, this was still enjoyable with good v evil and the complex thoughts and feelings that plague humans. It's well-written, if in need of editing, with a great flow and style.I have the omnibus edition but wanted to say a few words about book two whilst fresh in my mind.Recommended.
