Summer Story: Introduce children to the seasons in the gorgeously illustrated classics of Brambly Hedge!

There are many mice in the series, and now the spotlight is on Poppy and Dusty, a young couple. Their encounter and their wedding look nice and well described. Along Spring Story, I enjoyed simple plot. The book contains colorful and well detailed pictures, so you can also enjoy them along the story.

Jill Barklem has created a charming, and very English world with the Brambly Hedge books. The illustrations are very detailed. The flour mill, in a different book, drawn in cross section of a huge tree, is very functionally accurate. The interiors of the hedge tree houses are so cozy and charming, and almost every story ends with some sort of mouse picnic or party, with deliciously illustrated traditional English "puddings". My son loved these books and we read them for years. "Spring Story" is just a little scary, with Primrose, a mouse girl, getting lost at dusk.All ends well. All the stories show warm fellowship and exemplary cooperation in the mouse community, even if there is a whiff of the English class system.

It is something to behold! These critters know how to party and the delicate illustrations capture every detail in all its beauty. Another cure and sweet book from Brambly Hedge. Bravo!

Our copy of Summer Story and Jill Barklem's other Brambly Hedge books will never our home. I never tired of studying the detail of her illustrations and reading the stories to my grandchildren who are delighted with the mice characters. These books are the best of the best in children's books.

I have all the other cute little Brambly Hedge books, which I bought at different times at the library book sale, so they all have library binding, a big step above this bright shiny addition, but this will complete my set and I am happy. This book, being brand new, LOOKS much better than the others, and will probably last through a couple generations of my family, given that little hands are careful with little books in times to come. A long awaited addition to my library, this little book did not disappoint!

This is a charming little book, and the illustrations are gorgeous!

I didn't know the cover beneath the fly leaf was printed on hideous blue textured paper, so the cover image gets muddled in weird colors and the hard cover itself is not smooth & glossy like all the other Brambly Hedge books I've seen. I wish that detail (about the cover color at least) had been included. Also the printing quality of that particular book's illustrations seemed to be sub-par compared to what I've seen of this series--overall it looks like a cheaper copy.

Too much unwanted details.

A second hand book which was in excellent condition as described. It arrived before the promised date, nicely packaged and has been a huge hit with my 4 year old grand daughter just as the series was with her Mother!

簡単な英語の勉強にと手に取りましたが、細部まで細かく描かれた絵に大人でも感動します。ジャムやら鍋やら小道具がぎっしりと並んだ小部屋、花が飾られ木のぬくもりを感じるベッドルームなど、見てるだけで楽しいです。ネズミのキャラクター達も、いわゆる「ヒーロー」はおらず、普通の暮らしの子供から老人まで様々ですが、１ページ１ページにどこか優しさを感じます。作者がきっと、日々の何気ない喜びを大切にする人だったのだろうなと想像させてくれます。
