I have been using this smoker for several months now. It's a good size for the hobbyist with approximately 1-10 hives. Stainless with a wire cage to help prevent injury. The domed lid is neither a plus or minus to me. The inner Oxygenator cylinder is what sets it apart!I really like the inner basket feature, the Oxygenator. It's just a stainless cylinder perforated with holes sides and bottom. The holes are about 3/16 inch and there are many. I don't have a clue whether it makes better or more smoke but it sure makes lighting the smoker easier. I use starter pellets from Mann Lake to speed lighting and pine straw for fuel.My process - lay two pellets in the bottom of the empty canister. Fill with pine straw and really pack it in. I use the bent end of my hive tool for packing and jam in pine straw until I have a full and densely packed canister. Next I use one of the long butane BBQ lighters out of the wind and light it from the bottom. It's takes about one-two minutes to get the pellets and bottom straw going. The butane flames easily reach through the 3/16" perforations and once I can tell the fuel is burning I place it in the smoker. Finally I give it a few puffs every minute or two while I'm preparing other tools and supplies and when I reach the hives 150 feet away, I have a smoker ready for work and it doesn't go out. I don't use a lot of smoke so I sometimes have to do repeated bellows pumps to get it back to full strength - but it doesn't go out.No lighting fuel and trying to shove it in the smoker without putting it out or burning myself. I believe it would probably light just as well without the pellets but I have them on hand and it's sort of a "belts & suspenders" technique.Best of all, the dense pack of fuel makes this 7 inch smoker last as long as a 10 inch smoker which would be more loosely packed without the "Oxygenator" cylinder.I wish they would do two things. #1) Sell spare Oxygenator cylinders so I could load a few and have them stored and ready - and #2) Make a 10 inch version.

Good for a small apiary.
Although this smoker does a good job, its small capacity limits what you can put inside of it. I like the idea that it has a removable inner cannister, but it just needs to be a larger size in my opinion.

cheaper designs were just as good. Boy was I wrong
I bought a couple of these thinking the other, cheaper designs were just as good. Boy was I wrong. This is THE one to buy. Works perfectly. Sturdy. Will last.

Not recommended
I thought that the German style insert would keep it burning longer. However, This smoker is very small and does not stay lit long. Maybe it would be better in a larger size. But the worst part about it is that the top does not stay on. I would not buy this again.

Lid does not stay closed!
It is an okay smoker, in that it works. The problem is the lid does not stay closed. So very problematic. Definitely would not recommend or buy again.
