Bought this a few weeks ago as I am new to metal detecting. It is about 1/4 the cost of the Garrett AT pro pinpointer. Bought an expensive metal detector and decided to try this cheaper pinpointer (keep in mind I wound up buying the Garrett pinpointer a couple weeks after this one, only because I wanted to see if I was truly missing out on better tech). Summed up, this pinpointer works well. I found quite a few things easily with this pinpointer and was pretty impressed. It gets the job done. However, after purchasing the Garrett pinpointer, I can see some differences in sensitivity. I like that you can change between beep, beep and vibrate, or silent and vibrate. The Garrett will do all of this also, but the garrett can adjust from low, medium and high sensitivity while also being able to fine tune or focus the sensitivity while pinging on the object. Overall, the mosunece will get the job done but does lack the stronger sensitivity of the garrett and the ability to fine tune the focus on hits like the Garrett. You do get what you pay for but I'm not getting rid of the Mosunece. It will just stay in my bag as a backup if needed. I recommend it but if you can shell out the extra bucks, get the Garrett. If not, definitely get this until you can get one!

These people whining because it only goes down 1 inch? MOST people buying this also use it with a metal detector, and when digging this pointer is perfect. If you're gonna use it to find treasure on its own then you will be disappointed and should know better. I mean c'mon. people giving it a bad rating lolYour kids could use it at the beach and just wave it around the sand or in the sand. Maybe you'll find something. I can't believe some of the 1 star reviews LOL buy a Metal Detector and use it in conjunction - you'll now see the light and big picture.* if it doesn't work try another battery and if still no go return it for a new one. They make thousand's! 1 star rating when you can just exchange it. I can't believe the stupidity in these comments.

We tried this in a lake and it truly is waterproof and worked perfectly. One should understand that this is a tiny metal detector and works best when used in conjunction with a good full-sized metal detector. Detectors often find something but when digging the item out, this unit can go right into the hole to really pinpoint where it's hidden. This pinpointer detector is good, and is very useful for searching tiny areas, like those found by regular detecting equipment. If you get this to search a large area you will spend alot longer finding anything. This unit must be within 1 inch of the target to trigger a signal, where the larger detector can be 6-10" from the target (depending on it's size and weight) to trigger a signal. Another useful practice is to make sure you are searching in the right general area, because believe it or not, you cannot find a ring lost by the dock, if you're looking over near the boathouse!

I was expecting much less for the low cost of this item. I needed it to find my lots corner stakes that I had lost track of and they were covered in some soil and grass. The previous day I was digging around with a shovel for an hour. I was within inches of them but it might as well have been 3 feet. This metal detector found them spot on. It took me all of 2 minutes to find them. I was expecting a toy but this seems like a solid little device. Not sure how many more times I will use it in the future but it saved me the expense of having someone come out and find them for me.

I've been detecting for years and never thought about a pin pointer. We I decided to try one and I'm glad I did. This little guy made my detecting so much more fun..! If I had known how much fun and easy this is to use, I would have bought one years ago. They used to be much more expensive but I can tell you this thing will save you hours of time on your knees digging. Its fast, and with tone and vibrate alert you can use it in a noisy environment even if you can't hear it. Get one, you won't be sorry you did. Very sensitive within 2 inches of small items and 8 inches of very large items. I'm getting another one for my detecting buddy. It's just too useful not to get one.

Though I haven't had this one for very long, it behaves as described, seems pretty solid, and I'm pleased with the fact that its reactions (such as its beeps) become more frequent the closer it gets to the object it's detecting. Fits well in its included holster. Four stars only because I have not tested it underwater (and might not --- it's just me, personally, when I say that I might pay more if I'm going to completely submerge the whole pinpointer); however, so far, I think I'm going to be content with this one for a dry-land pinpointer. It seems like a good unit, especially for the price.

These work great! We purchased two of these and we are sure to bring them on every metal detecting trip they save so much time when digging ! I have also tested them under water where they also work very well ! The battery life is also excellent I would buy this again!

It's a cheap little handheld metal detector, but it works. I needed to find an old clothesline pole buried under a few inches of dirt and it located it easily and accurately. I would never use it underwater no matter what the title or description says - that would just be poor judgement. If you need a really waterproof device, spend a lot more and get something professional. I would have no hesitation in using this in the rain, however.
