just get the stainless flats, or tape wounds
I have played lots of LaBella string sets that I would give 5 stars. Until now I thought they could not disappoint but these ended up the exception that proves the rule. Right off the bat I had mechanical problems with them slipping off the tuners before they came fully up to pitch, on the d & g strings I had to tie the core wire around 1/2 of the tuner post with double half hitches before I could get tuned up. Other than that, I found they put a lot more tension on my neck so that I had to adjust truss rod substantially when they went on, and again when they came back off. Lastly, I found the tone, while very distinctive was not to my taste. This was on a mid-80's G&L that has held tune perfectly and sounded great both before and after these were on it.

Look amazing. High tension. Thumpy attack.
They look fantastic, especially against a single color finish. They feel like La Bellas: very high tension (which I personally love, but be mindful, as they do tend to bow necks a bit after a year or so); very thumpy attack with a slightly shorter sustain than other flats. The only thing I've ever disliked about La Bella strings is they tend to be extremely bright when brand new - that being said, I find they tend to age better than other flats, as that brightness mellows into very natural, woody high end - unlike other brands, which sometimes have a tendency to just sound like you're slowly turning the tone knob down as they age.

Worst strings I've played.
First set the G broke at the tuning peg. After a few emails, la bella sent a replacement. They look cool, that's for sure. The tension is insane, they are difficult to play. They have the most lifeless sound I have ever heard in a string. Worse than nickelwounds that haven't been changed in a year. There's hardly any midrange, and no treble.Ernie Ball flats are far superior, easier to play, and sound gorgeous.

Ehhhh.....
Very unique sound but the tension is too high. They look and sound cool but overall they are not as good as the regular 760 series.

Meh. Not as good as La Bella stainless flats.
Too much drag on the string surface. High tension sorta messed up the action. Looked good on my Deluxe Precision Lyte with its gold hardware but the strings tarnished. Looks aren't everything. I'm going back to the La Bella 760FS Stainless Steels.UPDATE: The finger drag on these strings continuea to be a big problem To solve that (at least temporarily) I loosened the strings and cleaned them with Nevr-Dull polish wadding, then wiped off the strings with a dry micro-fiber cloth. They became slick and fast. Howeber th black tarnish that came off each string was amazing. Just FYI. I stand by my original review. The La Bella 760FS Stainless Steel flats are my favorite for my Fender basses.
