Super Sushi Ramen Express: A Culinary Adventure Through Japan

A well written travel guide to much more than food. Exciting! I can rarely put down a book by Michael Booth once I start reading.

Excellent read. Prerequisite read for those in the West contemplating visiting Japan. May make a big difference in how much you prep and plan, enjoy meeting Japanese people on their tuft and appreciate the culture, food, traditions and social disposition of Japanese people in different regions of the country.

I read this book after a trip to Japan where I was in unfamiliar territory with regard to the food - an understatement. I wanted to learn more. This book was full of details about food and culture in regions of Japan from the far north to the far south. The entertaining part was that the author was traveling with his wife and two young sons for several months to write the book. I would have given it five stars, but, the book, in places, read as if it were not edited. Prepositions ended sentences, and a few times the word "regime" was used when the word should have been "regimen." Other than that, the book was a different and interesting read.

A really enjoyable book - I'm off to Japan for the first time and knew almost nothing about the counntry - lots of fascinating details about the culture - and of course the food - and now I can't wait for my trip.
