Bloody Mohawk: The French and Indian War & American Revolution on New York's Frontier

Fascinating read
This period of history is one largely ignored in Britain, apart from the capture of Quebec. This is a first rate book to fill at least part of that missing story, covering both the French and Indian Wars and the later American War of Independence in New York State. It is well written, with good maps and illustrations, but the one small drawback is that these are not in colour. There is also a good bibliography. I recommend this to anyone interested in the history of the American colonies in the period leading up to independence.

Not a history of the wars in the mohawk valley
I Bought this on audible thinking it was going to be a history of the military struggle in the mohawk valley.I loved his other book on the irish wars in the 16th century but this is very averageIts just a series of anecdotes about various people and the events that shaped it are touched upon then he goes off at a tangen about some preacher, bookbinder for ages. Unless you are interested in minor characters in C18 new york i cant see its pulling power

Disappointed.
I was disappointed. I thought I would love this book, but just couldn't get into it and didn't finish it. Doubtless, I will return to it at a later date.

Bloody Marvellous
An excellent book! Having read a great many historical accounts of British overseas enterprises, I can truly say that this ranks as one of the best. Well researched, simply written and well presented. My only regret is that the book came to an end.Dr. Thomas Heron
