Yes, it is a little tricky as it is not started sizing. Rule of thumb would be 36" = 3XL.

Q: I am a 38" waist - will the 4xl shorts fit me? They are not on the sizing chart

Hi, I am 36" waist and wear XXXL. So, I can safely say that the 4XL should be fine. Suffice to say, the stretching [stating the obvious] adds for comfort. The only issue I found was the inseam, had to get that adjusted [minor work]. Other than that, great value for money and great to work in. Hope this helps. Cheers
