I could never cut thin slices of my homemade bread. They were always crooked and would fall apart. When I bought my bread machine, a friend recommended I get a bread-slicing guide right away. She was right--it makes slicing the bread so much easier!This one is easy to clean and I love that there are varying thicknesses. It's super easy to assemble and use, and I love that I can fold it down, put it in its bag, and store it in my crowded pantry. When I make bread, I cut the entire loaf--I only make smaller loaves and we eat it within a day or two. It can be tricky to slice the bottom of the bread and you might put marks in the wood, but I've had no issues with this so far.On a side note, when I was shopping for a bread slicer, I was shocked at the number that included a knife, or the negative reviews for ones that didn't include a knife. Bread knives are not hard to find, and I personally preferred to buy a slicer that did NOT include a knife since I have an excellent set of Kitchen Aid knives, plus two other bread knives. This one seemed to be better quality for the price because of that, and I was not disappointed.

The width can be adjusted many different ways. My primary complaint is that the slit for holding the bread knife isn't deep enough so the end of the knife tilts upwards. Otherwise, it's a decent slicer. When put together using the end board to lock the sides in place, it's acceptably stable.

I enjoy the fact that I don't have bread crumbs all over the place with the crumb catcher. Sometimes it is difficult to slice the bread having the same uniform width slices, so I get different sizes some thin some thick. Or maybe I'm just doing it wrong. But it's still useable and handy.

Know the size of the bread you want to cut

Okay, so all I really wanted was something to use as a guide for slicing bread. For that purpose, this works. Unfortunately, the "instructions" are just pictures and one of the foundational photos is incorrect. It shows the wrong direction in the picture for how to insert the base of the unit. We figured it out through trial and error, but be aware that it will not stay together if you put the base in the way it shows in the picture. Also, after one use we were breaking it back down to store and one of the slats came off. It is just attached by a small staple type thing, so we got it back on, but this speaks to some pretty poor durability. As I say, it works, but it isn't the best.

I really wanted a commercial bread slicer, but seeing I don't have the money or space I opted for this. No more wasted bread and lopsided slices. Great companion to my Pullman pan to get perfect slices. It won't fit a large country loaf but I always cut them in half first anyway and then it works great.

This comes in 5 pieces, including the two "cutting guides" you can see in the picture. The slots on the two guides were so different and so misaligned as to make it impossible to cut even a single squared-off slice...the "thin" spaces were half as thick on one as on the other, and the "thick" spaces, while approximately the same thickness, were so misaligned the knife cut at almost 30 degrees off from square.The packaging literature/instructions go to great length about how happy they want their customers to be; it has been 6 days since I contacted the supplied email address, asking only to get replacement guides that were aligned, but not a peep so far. I was hoping not to have to return this to Amazon, but that looks like my only choice.Build quality (other than the stated problem) is low-to-medium, about what you'd expect for a $30 product made from bamboo. I make a lot of sourdough-type bread and am really disappointed. Sigh.Later - I returned the product for a refund and two months later was contacted by the seller, who replaced the item with a functional unit at no charge. As before, build quality was as expected, so I am now satisfied with this product.

The media could not be loaded.  I love my bread. I love baking it and I love buying it fresh from bakeries. The only problem is cutting it. My slices usually come out lopsided and crooked (which means both extra calories and wasted bread….). But then I came across this bread slicer on Amazon which seemed to solve the problem and didn't cost too much, so I figured I'd give it a shot.Opening the bread slicer was a nice surprise. Instead of a flimsy, cheap product, it's a sturdy, nice looking product that works really well and is easy to store in between uses.As you can see in the video below, it's easy to assemble, easy to clean, and doubles as a nice serving tray. And it makes slicing bread so much easier with perfect slices each time! (just make sure you have a long sharp knife and cut in straight lines so as not to damage the wood). The slicer allows you to cut thin or thick slices (or a combination of both), and is made of bamboo which is durable and long lasting.So if you love homemade bread and are looking for something to help you easily cut even slices each time, this is a wonderful solution and if you ask me (considering how nicely it comes packaged), it makes a perfect present to give any bread lover.

It does what it says it does ... a tool that ensures that all my bread slices are consistently straight and uniform. Easy to put together, easy to clean, and love that it disassembles for efficient storage.

It wasn't very sturdy and the fine print tells you it doesn't include the knife which is why I bought it as a gift for my partner. Sadly by the time he opened it and went to use it I missed the return date, otherwise would have 100% returned it.
