Great new OP spring for my M1 Garand.
While I was disassembling my M1 the OP rod spring was all rusted and came out in 2 pieces. (Another reason to always check out a used or old weapon before firing) I found this replacement on Amazon, ordered it, and received it very quickly. It is well made and works nice in the old Garand. Highly recommend this product...

so good! Much better than the GI spring in my ...
So far, so good! Much better than the GI spring in my M1 (Field Grade, Springfield 1943) from the CMP. It was kinked in the middle and looked like a slinky when I pulled it out of the op rod tube!!!I'm an M1 Newbie so I just slapped it all back together after I did my first field strip. The spring sounded like a creaking screen door... uh oh!! A quick shake through Google and the CMP forums, I ended up putting a light grease coat on the first about 6 inches of the spring. My second step was to make sure all the cobwebs, dirt, cosmoline and beach sand(!) get out of the op rod tube. I hosed mine out with brake cleaner, blew it out with an air hose and ran a mop with a little light oil , followed by a dry patch.I reassembled everything and the result was that the spring, op rod and bolt made that beautiful, military, solid engagement sound.Rifle was shot last weekend, perfect function, no FTF, FTE bolt locked back on the last round and no issues.Excellent product and if you get an M1 with unknown conditions of parts, a new op rod spring is cheap insurance.

protect your op rod
Anyone who knows anything about physics or engineering will tell you that all springs ware out at some point in time. These rifles are far from new, and the springs are all worn out, even if you don't know it. Still functioning, does not = not worn out. Just talk to any pro level competition shooter and ask them about their springs and how often they replace them. Furthermore we all know how vulnerable the op rod is. A worn out spring, absorbs less energy, allowing more of it to go into your op rod, increasing the risk of damage. If you're still running the OEM spring, this replacement spring is a cheap and easy way to reduce stress on your op rod. Keep the original in the case if you want, but if you're running the rifle, these springs are a must.

Great Replacement/Spare Sping
Literally is just another spring for the M1 Garand. Fits well and is up to spec if not a little more so.

PERFECT FIT
Perfect fit for my 1942 Garand. I hadn't changed out the operating rod spring in 20 years, and started having feeding issues recently. This new spring was 2 inches longer than my old spring, so obviously the old spring was worn out. Took it to the range the next day, and the rifle functioned flawlessly. Excellent product, quick delivery, just what the old girl needed.
