Informative
This book has gorgeous pictures but what's more is the information regarding proper patterning and styling for different patterns. Also there is a very comprehensive section for color help too.

Good to READ, not just photos
I loved this book and unlike most interior decorating books I read the text and got a lot out of it. It's not just patterns, but also color and style and how to think about your choices. My favorite decorating book.

I found the Primer section and the supporting text in the various chapters a bit tedious to read
This book missed the mark for me. While how-to information can be helpful to read, I found the Primer section and the supporting text in the various chapters a bit tedious to read. Rebecca's decorating style is also a bit different than my own, although not completely. Having said that, I have read decorating books where the style is different than my own, yet they are so well written that I still find inspiration in reading the chapters, photo captions, and looking at the photos themselves. Sometimes it is nice to see others perspectives that are different than my own in order to broaden my appreciation and encourage me to try new things - this was NOT the case with this book however. Mostly I was just kind of bored. She had several projects at the end, none of which I would be interested in trying. She also has numerous references to taping art work on the wall. While I can see taping your child's latest drawing on the wall, the use of tape was used several times and in a different context. On the plus side, I did like several aspects of the book. Some of her tips, such as how to use throws were nice and she included some items used as throws that really were not designed for that purpose. In addition the rooms have a lived-in feeling with sofa cushions slightly worn, towels not perfectly folded, etc. - all giving the impression that people really did live in the house instead of trying to look like a perfect photo shoot. As mentioned, the colors used in the book are mostly neutral and similar in styles from one to another.

Inspirational and Thought-Provoking with Plenty of Visuals
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Although some of the styling is a little eclectic for me, I love the writing style and for the most part the decor (i.e., light walls, texture, contrast, pops of color, antiques, unusual accents). There is a section at the front that discusses how to put together color and pattern and balance them, with pictures. It starts with warm and cool neutrals, adding intensity with color and then including saturated and accent color. If you are not in the design world (and I am not), this is an informative chapter. I know I will refer back to it again and again. Our children are grown and we are slowing working through the house to freshen the decor. I am so happy to find this wonderful book! Bonus - Several do-it-yourself projects, and three pages of resources at the end.

This is a wonderful resource filled with insightful writing
This is a wonderful resource filled with insightful writing, beautiful photographs, and sweet painted scenes. This book goes farther than simply talking about scale, or what to put together with what, it helps you to see what you already own in a new way or if you want to buy something, how to visualize it in your space. Often with books like these, there are lots of "projects" that I don't care about taking over half the book, and this is not the case here! The majority of the book is actual content- and the projects are things I am actually interested in, that relate to the book. I was thoroughly impressed with everything about this book, and I know that it will be a staple in my collection. Plus, its absolutely beautiful on your coffee table or shelf. Such a lovely book, Rebecca- I will be referencing it for a long time.

I LOVE THIS BOOK
Rebecca's illustrations are amazing and I love the diversity of spaces that she has chosen to photograph for her book. I love the mixture of whimsical to the understandable. Usually design books over complicate mixing print and patterns and it is never a style that I can understand or ever want for my living spaces. This book makes home design feel approachable. I also like the DIY aspect of the book. I already made shibori dyed napkins and they look as good as store bought ones. I can't wait to try some other tips that are in the book.

A coffee table MUST!
This is a great coffee/end table book just because it has a beautiful cover but the content of the book is fantastic as well. I enjoy flipping through it regularly and get so much inspiration.
