Don't know if it is damaged or poorly made.
I want to like this strainer, but it doesn't hold much weight without sagging where the handle is attached. Unfortunately, Amazon shipped in it a box that was too small, partially smashing the basket, and leaving the end of the handle sticking out of the box. So it's impossible for me to know if it is a design flaw, or damage. Other reviewers have mentioned the same problem though, so I would not take my chances by purchasing again.I do still use it for things that I can keep hold of the handle, such as rinsing rice or beans, and the only thing I would mention is that the grains do get hung up on the edge of the rim. But I cannot use it for pouring in hot cooked food (pasta, potatoes, etc.) as an over the sink strainer, which was my main reason for purchasing.I bought this to replace a 30+ year old strainer that has mesh separating from the rim. I would love to find one made as well as that!

So far, so stainless
This is a fine mesh strainer, in both senses. I was expecting a bit more heft and a stronger joint on the handles, but its sufficed so far. It has also been completely stainless, which is a bit of a gamble at the lower price points. All in all, I can't complain. It's doing what I needed at a price I'm ok with.

About the handle
We noticed that questions were asked but not answered about the difference between the 9” round handle ($13.90) and the 9” U-shaped handle ($15.90). We couldn’t understand why the round handle cost less, yet looked more comfortable, and wondered if it might be inferior in some way. We ordered it anyway. It is well made, comfortable to hold, and fully meets our expectations. The strainer rests across our sink, and we have used it to rinse berries, pasta, and tri-color quinoa (which does not plug the strainer’s fine mesh). Apparently you can buy either model and be assured of a good product.

Corners were cut, but still a thumbs up
It’s made well enough, checking boxes on durability and heft; but it’s also apparent why it’s so inexpensive, as the handle is just ever so slightly askew, and the cutout for hanging is crooked and misshapen. Overall, though, it looks nice enough, functions flawlessly. One that solves all these issues likely would have cost 2X, so I give it a thumbs up.

Just what I needed
Ran it through the dishwasher before using and it came out shiny and sparkling clean, Stainless steel makes all the difference, I bought a cheap one from Target and it came out of the dishwasher the first time with rust, it was chrome, lesson learned. The fine mesh on this stainless one is exactly what I needed. It’s strong and feels like it will last for years.

Fine but not super fine
I got this stainer because I make my own broth for recipes. I used to have to strain through normal colander strainer then cheese cloth. I made one batch of chicken broth with this fine mesh strainer and didn’t need to use cheese cloth. There was some solids that made it through but not enough to worry about.

Great size
Great size, hard to find 9" strainers. Easy to clean. Feels durable, will see in time.

Sturdy, functional, and attractive
This strainer may certainly be the best strainer I've ever owned! It's not only very attractive, it's deep with a riveted handle and a larger than most back resting handle. It's truly a joy to use and finally it's easy to clean.
