Mastering Copperplate Calligraphy Practice Book: Spencerian Pens Lettering Practice And Script Handwriting, Graph Paper Useful for Mastering Modern Copperplate Calligraphy

This book is supposed to provide the student with practice sheets for writing "modern" copperplate script and Spencerian hand. I do not know how well adapted it is to Spencerian, as I don't use that style, but for copperplate it is utterly unsuitable. First, it is mis-lined. The mid-space is the same size as the ascender and descender spaces, when it should be about a third smaller. This makes the book useless for copperplate. Just as bad, if not worse, the paper is too soft and porous, so the thick lines invariably bleed. This makes the book useless for just about any calligraphic style you can think of.

This practice book is set at a 45° angle. Copper plate and Spencerian are supposed to be at 52 and 55° this book is useless.
