There may be cheaper options available but I firmly believe that you get what you pay for. I chose the Large home as I liked the extended 'tunnel' entrance. The hog enters through this into a 'corridor' area and when reaching the corridor end needs to turn into the actual house, therefore encouraging him/her to turn back into its sleeping quarters, thus preventing any nasty windy blasts. The roof is a VERY weighty composite material which keeps all water out. It also has a hasp so that you can lock in place and keep predators out, that said I doubt whether a predator would be able to lift it. All wooden areas are super strong too and build quality is second to none. We filled the box with straw pre-hibernation in 2023 and were rewarded with a beautiful hedgehog overwintering (and still in daytime residence even now in May!) Our hog obviously knows quality when he/she sees it! We have been advised (by a hog rescue) not to clean it out yet just in case ours is female and chooses to mate and have her babies in there! I feel so honoured that this adorable creature has chosen our hog house for her home, especially as our garden is not that large. P.S. We feed semi-moist hedgehog food, so hopefully our hog will not have to risk journeying too far! Thank you Riverside Woodcraft for such a wonderful product.

I had previously bought hedgehog houses during Vivid, they were well made from a small business and they donated to local hedgehog rescue, so was happy with all that.Those hedgehog houses started to fail and I had to take a hedgehog to a local rescue where I live and they recommended this house. When I saw the price, I was reluctant, it's a lot of money, but really pleased I did. The thickness of the timber is very thick so they keep nice and warm, ideal for hibernating. It's already occupied.I will definitely be buying again to replace the others and hope to support the local hedgehogs

This is a really solid, well made hedgehog house. It was well packaged too and arrived in perfect condition.I'm so pleased to say that I have a resident now! It should keep my friend dry and cosy. I would definitely recommend this hoghouse, it's a fair price and should last for years.

Our little hedgehog used the house straight away and has been coming every night since. I’m sure he feels safer eating inside than outside. In the past we have fed him outside with a board propped up against the shed to keep out the rain which he used, recently the magpies have been coming to finish anything he hadn’t eaten so it’s been difficult knowing how much the hedgehog had eaten or even if he had been during the night. I love the fact that to top can be secured so no animal could lift the top to get inside and it looks very attractive in the garden.

This hedgehog house has the endorsement of an experienced hedgehog rescue. It's good quality and known to be long lasting. It may seem a little more expensive but well worth it.

I would thoroughly recommend this company. I have purchased other items from them before and always had excellent service. The hedgehog house is of the same sturdy structure and well finished and weather proof. I love the catch on the front of the box. The only small detail is, it’s a bit of a pain that the lid won’t stay up on its own or fold back so you have to hold the lid when putting food in and out. Other than that perfect.

Our visiting hog ventured in the same night I put it down. Little more expensive than many on the market but the quality is fantastic and it’s well designed, taking into account space and ventilation. Worth the investment, as looks like it will last forever!

The media could not be loaded. Great build quality. Mrs Pricklepants has taken quite a shine to it.I’ve put some bedding in, which has stayed dry after all the rain we’ve had. It comes ready built which was a factor for choosing it. It does the job well, very solid and stable. 10/10 from me & Mrs P
