Taken with me around the world!
I travel the world a lot and only so many songs can fit on my MP3 player. One thing is for sure, this album is always included! Natalie has an absolutely marvelous voice. Too much of the stuff produced these days is all makeup and no talent. She is definitely ahead of the curve. I've heard all of her albums to-date, and I think this one is the best of them all. If you're used to listening to her first album "Left of the Middle", then you're definitely in for something different. Here she completely remakes herself. Her songs are at times inspirational, touching, and even euphoric. My favorite song on this album is "Sunlight". Its buried deep into the track listing, but I think it's an important song. It never gets old. It lifts me up when I'm feeling depressed and it gets me in the right mood for my voyages. When at times life gets so tasking and you feel like there's nothing worth living for, Natalie is there to remind you that there is so much more out there that is yet to be experienced and achieved. She forces you to ask the question of if you've really lived this life to the best of its possibility and encourages you to set out and conquer whatever obstructs your path. I haven't been this inspired since listening to Stan Bush in the 1980's.Thank you Natalie for this album. Though I've never met you, you will always feel like a friend of mine, all the way across the world from Australia. Maybe I'll visit there sometime!

Perfect
I can't understand the negativity. This album is far better than her first. The song "Goodbye" alone is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, and the rest of the album just flows perfectly from one song to the next. It irks me that some are stuck in the rut of only listening to "catchy pop", faulting any artist who grows and deepens, selecting only those songs that fall into the uptempo category to like, disdaining the rest. It's her soft, slow, and subtle moments on this album that make it special, that make her Natalie Imbruglia. Her first album is all right pop, but this one is beautiful. Which do you prefer?

impressive impression
this excellent second release from this singer/songwriter really impressed me. the lyrics are excellent, the production interesting and her voice excellent. favs. include "satellite", "do you love", "wrong impression", "goodbye", "hurricane", "sunlight", "butterflies" (awesome) and "come september" - all thoughtful and commanding. highly recommended!

Soulful and perfect
I simply love this album; although "Wrong impression" in my opinion is a weaker first single than "Torn", this is a much even and better album, and I own and love both of them. Few artists manage to surprise and delight me, but Natalie certainly did. From soulful "Come September" to desperate "That day" I'm glad she took the four years to deliver the gem that is "White Lilies Island".

Awesome CD
Natalie really hit it with this one. Everything connects. It is just one of the best overall CD's I have heard. One of those you listen to over and over now.....and will keep listening to even once the new wears off.JUST AWESOME!!

WARNING: Don't buy the $4 version of this CD!
WARNING: At first I bought the $4 version of this CD. It was advertised as new. NONE of the tracks would play. I returned it thinking it was a fluke as I have a great history with Amazon. Then I bought the $4 version again and the same thing happened. Finally I bought the more expensive version and it was fine.

Nice songs, bad CD
I don't like to criticise an artist whose records I otherwise own, but I can't in any honesty recommend this. I've no problem with Ms Imbruglia's voice or song writing, but I've tried to buy this album twice since it came out and each time it's gone back to the shop for a refund. Why's this you may ask? Well, put simply the CD this version of album comes on is not an audio compact disc (neither is the Sony version come to that....) - you won't find the CD audio symbol anywhere on the packaging, nor will you be able to play it in your car CD player or hi-fi (though it does play fine in a standard CD player). It isn't one of the infamous "XCP-Aurora" copy protected discs that got Sony into serious legal trouble back in 2005 (thank goodness!) but it does use a DRM method known as "Cactus Data Shield 200" that stops it from being played by any means other than via the built-in software player contained on the outer portion of the CD (in effect it's a data CD and therefore violates the Philips Red Book audio CD standard - not much use if you rip all your CDs to an iTunes server like I do!). Any attempt to extract the audio in a PC or Mac via iTunes or suchlike will fail unless the CD is 'modified' accordingly (I won't say exactly how this is done, but it's easy enough!). Sony was rightly hammered in the popular press for stunts like this and as I recall these discs should all have been recalled & scrapped by Sony (with a free standard replacement offered), but as I found to my cost there are still a few rogue copies out there. It's a shame that my very first review has to be quite so negative (hopefully the forthcoming ones to follow won't be), but this is one subject guaranteed to wind me up. As it turned out, the album itself is fine (almost as good as its predecessor in fact), but the same can't be said for the media it came on. If you must buy it, make sure you have the standard 2003 version also sold here, or buy the MP3 album instead. You'll get a lot less grief that way!

smooth,relaxing and beautiful sound
I love the way Natalie doesn't stress individual words on this cd but lets the lyrics float along seamlessly - it's like hearing the words in a dream.I think that Hurricane,Talk in Tongues and Butterflies are all better songs than her big hit Torn. One of the most under-rated pop stars in the music industry.
