Ridiculous screed of a wannabe revolutionary
Take every Social Justice cliche, throw in some convenient made up facts and a few lies, add several cups of hypocrisy and lack of self-awareness - and throw them all in a blender. That's what this book is. If you think we can bust false binaries by simply creating new ones (that we don't acknowledge and that are even more baseless than the ones we supposedly just busted), then this book is for you. If you think bisexuality must inherently exist as some sort of woke revolutionary stance, then this book is for you.If you want to know why most bisexual activism has alienated most bisexual people, if you want to know why most bisexual activism is ineffective, if you want to see how LGBT activism can be elitist and cult-like while at the same time claiming to be accessible and down-to-earth - this book is a great glimpse into the belly of the beast. A ridiculous screed by yet another self-important bisexual activist.

Inspired and inspiring
This book has been very influential in how I think about opression, and has changed my understanding of these issues in a major way. I appriciate the fact that the author takes time to define terms and give context. A must read.

If you are bisexual this book will speak to you.
If you are bisexual this book will speak to you. It is a great response to the way monosexuals treat bisexuals. The author discusses how bisexuality relates to other issues such as feminism, trans identity and race. She also suggests that bisexuals should embrace negative stereotypes and see them in a positive way. Overall, it is an interesting book with an alternative perspective.

Fun book about bisexuality
This book is a lot of tongue in cheek playing off and describing all the societal stereotypes people have about bisexuals, but weaves in a little bit of actually informative stuff too.

A manifesto
This is an important book in the field of bisexual politics--the best I've seen. It brought me up to date with the new approaches I've missed since moving away from my beloved San Francisco bi community in 1994. Eisner's thesis is brilliant: Instead of countering every negative stereotype about bisexuality by trying to prove that we're actually well-behaved, loyal, monogamous conformists, she urges us to "examine why society places bisexuality on the side of anxiety, threat, and subversion." And she asks, "How can we use these very things to disrupt social order and create social change?" WOW.This book opened my eyes about the bi/trans experience, bisexuality and men, and the parallels between bisexuality and racialization. I was interested in Eisner's assertion that bisexuality is a minority-world (Western-world) construct; I would have liked more development on that point.I disagreed with her extremely negative views on the marriage equality movement and our involvement in it. My state, New Mexico, is just beginning to get marriage equality county by county, and over the past two weeks I've attended six jubilant same-sex weddings. It melts the most cynical heart to see two women in their 80s who have been together 51 years get married at the end of their lives. I think queers are changing the institution from the inside, rather than conforming to it. Few of us are naïve enough to think marriage will solve all our problems as individuals or as a community. But this book wouldn't be a radical manifesto if every reader could agree with every point. I heartily recommend it to anyone interested in queer politics and gender politics, regardless of how they self-identify. I'm hoping to get a book study group started in my town, which at this point has one vocal bisexual that I know of--me!

Required Reading for Bi+ People
An absolute must-read for anyone who studies social justice issues or is interested in the dynamics of the LGBT community (or lack of community, as the case may be). This books puts into words what many of us bi people have experienced but have been unable to eloquently name.

An excellent book that delves into the intersecting mechanisms of monosexism ...
An excellent book that delves into the intersecting mechanisms of monosexism and multiple other forms of oppression. Great for organizing and/or teaching. Easily accessible language would make this a great text for sexualities or social justice classes.

I learned something so it was a good read.
This is somewhat of a call to action. However, there were many instances where I became lost trying to keep up with some of what was trying to be said. In other words it was a little scientific and too wordy, and for some reason I was expecting something different, but I am not sure what that is.

It is a wonderful read and you will not be disappointed
This book gave words to the issues I wanted to talk about, things I felt where wrong both inside and outside the community. It is a wonderful read and you will not be disappointed. Oh and for those worried about being triggered the most common triggers are preceded by trigger warnings. It does better on attempting gender inclusiveness than any book i've read, and even goes on to explain why there is the assumption of male exclusiveness, racism, misogyny, and bi issues within the LGBT community, better yet it even covers the reasons behind why these are issues. All bisexuals should read this book. It should be a requirement. Yes it's that good.

Great work on bisexuality
Very accurate elaboration of struggles bisexuals face daily. Passionately written and informative. Literally the only work on bisexuality this broad and detailed.

Broad but coherent look at bisexual theory that doesn't talk ...
Broad but coherent look at bisexual theory that doesn't talk down or bore to tears. Not all ideas are gems, but I defy you to show me any one ideologically pure piece of queer/lgbtq theory. Sure to inspire budding interests in bisexual activism.

Expected empowerment and an engaging read, was disappointed.
I came to this book expecting to find lots of inspirational commentary and discussion around issues relating to bisexuality. Unfortunately the author seems to spend too much time tripping over herself and tying herself into knots using jargon and PC statements (some of which I had never heard of) and it just comes across as very constrained and 'trying too hard'.Also, considering this is supposed to be a book about Bisexuality, there is an inordinate amount of time spent focusing on trans issues. Although I fully believe that there are serious issues which trans people face, it does kind of feel a bit forced and out of place here. Finally, when discussing how to counteract stereotypes, it seems to begin to build but then falls flat (although this could be because I had began to skim read sections at this point).Overall, the text comes across as very convoluted and overly complex. This is a significant issue when the book aims to demystify bisexuality. The whole thing just doesn't feel very accessible and I couldn't get into it. I actually have not read past the halfway mark at this point and I'm not sure if I will. I had such high hopes for this book, but it just turned out to not be what I was expecting at all. When reading it I could practically feel the restraint and dissonance of the author in the way she tries to clarify herself and ends up making more of an issue than there was beforehand. As much as I hate to say it, I also get a strong stereotypical tumblr-feminazi vibe which is off putting in itself.

High expectations
I went into reading this book thinking it would be a substantial look at bisexuality...it ended up being beginner's level. I was looking for a more theoretical, in-depth look at bisexuality and I just didn't find it here, unfortunately. Great book for anyone looking to learn about bisexuality, not so good for people with knowledge of the field.
