I bought these as I needed to remove some capacitors from a GameCube disc drive to replace them. They heat up quickly and work flawlessly! I was able to remove the capacitors with no issues and no risk of having them explode from overheating. Definitely grab yourself a pair if you find yourself having to remove components by heating each side back and forth and risking overheating!

Keep in mind this product is cost built. We had lots of rework to do on some 0603 and 0402 SMD resistors. The build quality is generally lacking on this. You have to squeeze the tweezers quite hard in order to get the tips close enough together to solder parts. The thumb screw is a nice idea, but also doesn't get the tips close enough. Additionally, the tips themselves are not well made, and not sharp enough for true SMD work. The price is right, but I found it easier to just use tweezers and a good single soldering iron with a sharp tip.Not sure this is worth buying.

It is good, works and accepts many different tips. The mechanical alignment is just ok. Works for components larger than 0805. Even that, it is perfect for large capacitors, leds, inductors.

Ordered these some months back, and returned from travelling, so I could finally give them a try.Tried to remove SMD cap.275 - Nope.350 - Nope.400 - Nope.Notice that the iron is only heating one side, as one side has become discolored.Take apart element that is not heating - electrode broken.Twist electrode to see if it's removable/replaceable - Iron is switched off, and don't see any other way to possibly remove electr- ZAP!!! Wasn't expecting to touch angry pixies today. Double check - yep, iron is switched off.Iron went straight into the trash after that.Pulled it out of the trash to take that picture, because I want to share my experience with potential shoppers.Keeping the stand and sponge though, those might be useful.

I bought this to de-solder resisters and caps from component boards, it works fine just takes a little getting use to but I haven't had any issues using them.
