I replaced a cell-based gate operator that had a monthly service charge ($40) so this will pay for itself in a couple years. Some things I like better (motion detection, camera quality, ability to stream the video to my security system NVR) and some not as well (event logging, event notification, timed hold open feature) when comparing it to the unit I replaced. It does what it is supposed to do and it doesn’t have a monthly fee. It was easy to install - I did it myself. I had a bit of work due to the different dimensions of my old unit compared to this unit. I had to fabricate a bezel to cover the larger horizontal width of the old unit. And, I had to cut out some steel and concrete because this unit is taller than the old unit. It took 3-4 hours with everything extra I had to do. If it had been a fresh install with the flush box built into my block pilar (like the previous unit) it would have been a snap. Plug in the PoE Ethernet cable and connect 4 wires. If you only want flash open, you only have to connect 2 wires. I used one relay to do a flash open and one for the hold open, so I had to connect four wires.I gave five stars for the product. I gave 4 stars for the motion detection because it doesn’t always detect motion. A car driving by within 3’ when it is set to 3 meters and it doesn’t give a motion notification. The same car going the opposite direction (in rather than out of the gate) and it does give notification. Not a big deal, but still a 4 not a 5.I gave tech support a 3 because they take a day or two to respond to online inquiries, which was the only way I found to contact them. Once they respond (a total of three different requests) they are helpful with good answers. The value for the money is a 1 to reflect this vendor and Amazon. The ad clearly says the unit comes with the flush back box. It says you have to order the surface mount box and pay extra if you need a surface mount box. I didn’t, so this was perfect - except it arrived without a back box of either variety. I contacted Amazon. They said they would contact the vendor and have them reach out to me. I also contacted the vendor (on the Amazon app and by calling the phone number on their shipping label). Amazon said they would follow up with me to confirm I had received help. They didn’t and it has been 10 days since they said they would follow up with me. As well, the vendor didn’t respond to the electronic inquiry or the voice message left at their phone number. So, I ordered another one figuring I would get the back box and return one of the units without the back box and I would then have the back box they claim it includes. Unfortunately, the second one also did not include the back box. Because I wanted the unit, I ordered the flush mount back box from a vendor - not through Amazon. It took a couple days and cost me $267.00 to get the box. It was interesting to note that the DoorBird box (both of them) had room for the flush back box - just no flush back box. It seems this vendor is clearly making false claims that it includes the back box and is not the least bit concerned about addressing the problem.

NOT FOR HOMEOWNERS
Here's my take on all Doorbird products.1) Hire a qualified network technician to perform installation2) Hire a trained technician to perform programming.System will work as described.Getting hold of Doorbird tech support is difficult. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND A RELIABLE TECHNICIAN/INSTALLER.

No longer the gold standard, now little more than tin.
I bought the hype, German engineering etc, only what I did not expect is the unit to fail because of the call button and to be charged hundreds of dollars to replace it. The first time this failed I was assured it was a "glitch" It rained in California and the bell rang constantly. When it dried it stopped a few days later. Now I am told I should have returned the unit which was under warranty (three months out of said warranty now). So my bad I should never have trusted their advice, now to fix it costs almost as much as new unit. This is priced like a Rolls Royce but clearly is made like more like a Pinto, super disappointing. There has to better options.

BEAUTIFUL PRODUCT DESIGN - BUT IT SIMPLY DOSENT WORK WELL - DON'T BUY IT.
This product has an amazing 'look/design', real outward quality construction ...BUT, the camera is a 720p, the speaker quality is very poor, night vision is terrible and the WORST is......when someone rings, the SPOOL UP TIME IS the worst! If I am away from my home, the Doorbird won't even connect, it just keeps spooling and not connecting. I have the latest Apple iPhone and I discovered that a Samsung phone will connect.....crazy. So if you have Samsung maybe you'll get by, but remember only with poor speaker and camera quality. I also noticed that my neighbor has a similar Doorbird as well and I asked how he liked his, his report was ...."it doesn't work.....keeps spooling trying to connect and by the time it does connect the person it gone"Save your money, don't be fooled by the 'look', the manufacture hasn't worked out the bugs yet. I paid $1,200.00+ and couldn't get the company to take it back....they could care less. Find a different solution -----Pass Pass Pass!!!

Expensive and now junk
I purchased the entire system, the video the extra ringer and of course the base unit. And it failed and has been frustrating from poor software integration, poor app, bad explanations but I got over it. Got the system working. Until it starting ringing incessantly. (after a rain storm) The unit was defective. so I am told NOW. This you do need to know, the cost of repairing what is a simple part (call button) is almost more than a new system. Mercedes or BMW could learn a thing or two about gouging their customers. As for their customer service well....good luck there too.I am so tired of companies over promising, claiming great support and doing nothing. For this amount of money there has to be better options

Terrible device, poor customer support
Terrible documentation and support. Very difficult to set up. Poor UI and wireless range. I have an older model that they discontinued and don’t support anymore. The app doens’t have a connect to wifi button; it lists all the models and have videos on how to connect to wifi.
