Tai Chi Qigong: The Internal Foundation of Tai Chi Chuan

Best as an Academic Refernce, not as a How to Practice It!
This is a very informative book but it is not primarily a manual on how to do Qigong. It is a work that explains the history of the development of Qigong, it's relationships to Tai Chi Chuan, and many other fascinating relationships, applications, and observations. There is approximately 1/3 of the book devoted to how to do Yang style Tai Chi Qigong. A vastly superior instructive tool for the same ideas for me was his DVD "Simple Qigong Exercises for Back Pain Relief."

Teaches the seeds of qigong.
Not only qigong. Taiji.I took 2 years to work through this book, 1999-2001. When I began learning Taiji Chuan, I knew many of the core practices already, including sensing, bumping, attaching and press/push.This has it all. It's down to you to do the work.

Essential text for Chinese martial arts
This book gets to the core of everything you can learn about the ancient martial arts of Tai Chi and Chi Gung. Thorough explanations of history, techniques, purpose of motion, chi energy movement, chi/body/mind interconnectivity, proper breathing, postures, etc. Well illustrated with plenty of exercise "sets" including a nice warm-up. This book will be a great help with your training and an important reference in your library.

The physical book is great the ebook sucks. The entire ebook is in bold type and centered text. Buy the physical book but if you are picky about format bypass the ebook

Good book
Still reading it. To be honest I expected something more technical. am not sure why they spent so much time and so many pages on all the historical milestones of Tai Chi. I do respect the art and its history but may be it should be done in a separate book. Internal foundation sounds more into the art itself to me. But good book!

Essential book for all who practice Taiji Quan
Everyone who trains Taiji should have that book. The book shows the definitions of Qi and Qigong, their brief history as well a lot of practical techniques to improve our practice and take it to another level. A really great work of Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming.It took more time it was expected but it finally arrived. I thank Northern Shipments for the feedback given to me and for solving the delay issue.

Big Influence and Great Purchase
Dr. Yang covers the history of Qigong, its theory, and of course some methods to further its development. I found that the book provides a tremendous amount of context for the practitioner. According to Dr. Yang in his book, the Qi is something that can be felt. I am uncertain if all readers will be able to sense the Qi even after reading the book; but I consider the explanation really worthwhile. I purchased this book already with the natural ability to detect and move the Qi; but I lacked any kind of conceptual foundation to describe and explain the feelings. The Qi was fleeting and uncontrolled. I can say from personal experience involving reverse breathing controlling the Kan, the contents of the book are entirely accurate in relation me, including even the circulatory patterns. As Dr. Yang explains, it is important to have some physical activity even for those focused on internal development. Tai Chi is one approach towards this realization. Through Tai Chi, breathing, and mental training, I have been able to deliberately and consistently invoke Qi. I would say, however, that this is not necessarily a book for complete beginners or those interested in Tai Chi purely as a form of exercise; there might simply be no sense of Qi. It will also be apparent to readers that the book, after establishing heritage and context, represents an entry point for lifelong learning and research.

Exzellent book but no videos on any kindle version I have
The book itself is great like all books by Dr. Yang. But I can not play any of the videos because it says my device us not supported. Tried it with a kindle paperwork, Android and Windows 10 player ( on Windows the kids fle app tells me that the book is not supported...)
