A real weapon
This is so far the sharpest sword I own. The touch of the cutting edge feels not like those stainless steel knifes. It feels like the shaver razor blade. So be very careful when practice if you own one. The weight is just right in my hand and it balances pretty well too. The is not a full length sword. It is rather like a full size machete. The handle is little bid on thin size I wish the manufacturer makes it a little bolder. I will wrap it with a tennis racket grip tape to fit my hand better. Highly recommended.Follow up: Thank all for helping me get the loose handle issue resolved. I tighten the nut after removing the end cap using the hair dryer. There is some space in the middle of the handle where the tang knocks the wood that made the sound. I used aluminum foil to stuff the space so it is solid now. The only thing that I feel is weak is that the tang inside the wood handle is a small size metal and the transitions are sharp angles which is easily cause stress concentration when chop hard with full power. I wish the factory increase the size of the tang at lease double the current size to make it secure. Still a great sword.

Loose handle
The blade is a beautiful Damascus steel. However the handle and pommel are loose, leaving me afraid to swing the sword in case the blade flys off the handle

Terrific value!
Not merely poorly sharpened, it has a uniformly flat edge visible the entirely length. Not even a secondary bevel (which would be unusual anyhow on these), they just didn't actually sharpen it.Build quality is the usual for the style and price range. Yes, hot-melt glue for the fittings, some excess glue visible but easy to clean up (typical). Blade does have fairly uniform distal taper, "Damascus" steel.Blade on mine measures 20.50" long. No surprise, in fact I've been trying to get this exact smaller "duan dao" for years now (Kult of Athena lists them, but apparently doesn't stock them anymore). The grip is indeed skinny, which is funny because most of the modern manufactured liuyedao swords have slightly oversized grips. At least this one is easy to build up the grip by wrapping to suit your particular taste.Scabbard is a very nice fit. Completely loose until the last inch of sliding in the sword, which becomes precisely smooth and snug. Swords locks in, but not too tight.Based on what you get for the money, I would have given 5 stars except for the totally dull edge.

I am happy with this blade
I had my doubts after reading reviews. I placed the order well before reading them and likely would not have ordered based on the negative few regarding length. Received the blade today and I am totally impressed by the blade quality and overall build. It is thick at the guard and has an obvious distal taper. The blade pings when I flick it. My blade length is exactly 20" from the guard, so there is an issue with consistency.

Cool. Not a tool.
Rat tail tang. Not ideal. Biggest insult was the fact that the adhesive used to hold all the components together failed. The sheath components fell off within minutes of interacting with it. It is in fact fine steel but impact use of the product would be useless. The sheath cup fell off almost instantly. I had to secure it myself. Mass production blade. Not for pros. Put it up on your wall.

Chinese Sword = Perfection
This Dao Sabre is perfect and makes for such good room decor. Being of Chinese heritage it's truly an honor to own one of these swords so vital in my culture and history.

Beautiful design
I love the design of the sword. It's lightweight and feels good in my hands (I'm a petite 5ft). The scabbard is very intricate and the wood is stunning. The handle has a nice shape and is also an excellent wood piece. However, the bottom of the scabbard fell off right out of the box/ wrapper, it's not very sharp, and the damascus (although beautiful) is faint and hard to see. I would like to see it a little bolder. These are all things my husband can fix, but I expect perfection when buying new.
