The hat is a pretty good replica of the famed Cavalry Stetson. It's overall a good substitute, if you're not willing in spending 200$ on a name brand Stetson. But you should if you're a Delta...This was used as a wall mounted memorial piece for the Regimental room for 1-14 Cavalry Regiment, Warhorse.A few things worth noting:1.) The yellow acorns on the hat are non-deployment legnth -- legend has it, the original Cavalrymen used the acorns to smack against the brim of the riders hat to assist in keeping the rider awake on longer duration rides...However, these can be replaced for around 10$.2.) The name brand Stetson does not have the 3 small (air?) holes on each side.3.) The hat isn't impossible to reshape, within reason. Mine arrived a little bent, but was able to correct this without much real effort. Just keep in mind that the product is some type of plastic like material and can only be adjusted so much.4.) Product does not likely fall in compliance with Squadron/unit policy letters due to there being no eyelets present on the hat. Eyelets attach the rear nape strap, see below.Notes from Squadrons I've served with you may want to keep in mind/reference unit SOPs prior:"1. Stetson: The Stetson will be cavalry blue in color. Only rank and regimental or ordinary cavalry brass will adorn the Stetson. The braid will be worn around the base of the Stetson. Troopers will wear the appropriate braid color. Braid ends or acorns will be to the front of the Stetson and no more than an acorn length over the brim.a. Field Grade Officer: Solid Goldb. Company Grade Officer: Gold and Blackc. Warrant Officer (Senior CW4,CW5): Solid Silverd. Warrant Officer – WO1,CW2,CW3 : Silver and Blacke. Non-Commissioned Officer: Yellow2. The nape strap will be threaded through the appropriate eyelets in the brim of the Stetson so that strap goes around the back and the buckle is fastened and centered on the wearers head.3. The sides of the crown shall not be pushed in or otherwise modified. The brim will be flat with a slight droop at the front.4. The Stetson will be worn on the head with the brim parallel to the ground.5. Occasions for wearing the Stetson: Squadron dining-ins/outs, formal events in dress blues, gatherings of spur holders, professional gatherings such as AAAA and any other event or function as designated by Squadron/Battalion Commander."

I give it five stars because it is a good quality hat for the price. I didn't want to pay a lot ($100+) for a cavalry hat for the singular occasion, but also didn't want something so cheap it was useless. This fit right in the middle. A little more than I wanted to spend but it can be used over and over again and looks like the real thing. So exactly what I was looking for.

I got this to modify for a Vietnam veterans hat for my club meetings. Great quality for my intended use an if it gets messed up I’m not out a lot of money.

I love the hat. Fits good, looks good, however it was bent up from being placed into a too small box when shipped. Going to take a bit to reshape it.
