Absolutely Brilliant
Blue October grows on you like a long lost friend coming back around at watershed moments. This is the album that finds Justin at his most mature and utterly compelling. The chemistry in the songs here feels like the satisfying final chapter to a novel where you never want it to end. This is Blue October at their most listenable and feel good moments. Sway sounds so warm and satisfying after you have listened over the years as Justin has lived out loud his most harrowing and darkest moments. The opening tracks: 'Breathe' and 'Sway' do just that. You feel Ryan's violin and Justin's melodic hymn carve into your soul the breath of life that you know is soon to follow in the coming tracks. 'Sway' is a love song that feels both groovy and hip. 'Angels in Everything' is Justin's catchy homage to his new beloved. The chorus: 'You're the Angel that came, and took these clouds away. You made me believe!' - who would have though something so uplifting would come from Blue October just a few years ago? 'Any Man in America' feels like a decade ago compared to 'Sway'. 'Fear' is a final acknowledgement of where Justin has been and where he is now. It's a testimony and dose of psychotherapy for his oft-troubled soul. 'Not Broken Anymore' is another beautiful, poignant ballad capturing again the satisfying place where Justin finds himself. There's so much more here: 'Bleed Out', 'Things We Don't Know About', 'Things We Do At Night' - these are all amazing tracks. This album may not have the sharp edges of 'Any Man in America' or 'Approaching Normal,' but what it lacks, it more than makes up for with brilliant, listenable, uplifting Blue October. If there's anything missing or lost in Sway, it's maybe the guitar. There's just not a lot of it on this album. If anything, it's just in the background or in subtle filler supporting the more dominant keyboard arrangements. I don't think this compromises Sway in any way, but Blue October has definitely moved away from a guitar dominant sound.

1 word... AWESOME!
Thank you for the super quick delivery. That said, Blue October, Wonderful! A little different from the past but the emotions are still so there, I've listened to it heck I don't even know how many times, but I love it. Like all their cd's it's hard for me to pick A song as my fav although I really like, "fear" alot, it's kinda where I am in my life now. Funny but it has always seemed like their music ALWAYS gets me I feel like they (Justin) is in my head, in my heart & soul. I'm in my 40's & have carried so much pain around with me. Listing to them through the years has been part of my "therapy". Although their earlier work still has a major place in my heart & I listen to many songs often the "Foiled" with Ryan Delahoussaye — violin and Sarah Donaldson — cello. Also" Consent to Treatment" with Ryan Delahoussaye - violin, mandolin & Eric Gorfain - violin also "History for sale" with Ryan Delahoussaye - violin, mandolin. OK you must be wondering way I'm I writing about the mandolin & violinist ? I'ts my opinion that the instruments blend so damn well with Justins VOICE, they give SO much to the song & get me in a place in my heart that felt dead before I came across their music, & NO it was NOT though "Hate Me" although a good song, I think maybe it's the reason alot of people haven't given them a chance. For me it was "Razorblade' OK now you know where I am LOLAll in All THIS album... SWAY is fantastic! Pick up a copy, it's at a great price and you won't be sorry. I have NOTHING to do with the band, I'm just someone who LOVES BLUE OCTOBER!!!

Each cd I get is better than the last!
I loved foiled in 2007, it got me through a loss that was hard. I got a ticket last October to see them for the first time at the Filmore in New orleans, so my son gave me his Foiled cd, and suggested the I hope you are happy cd, to get ready for the concert. I fell in love with it. Listened to it almost every day till Dec 10 concert. The concert was awesome, really great. I chose Sway next. My favorite again. Not broken anymore is the best "new" song I have ever heard. Can't help tearing up when I hear it. So powerful. Each cd I get is better than the last. Just ordered Any Man in America, I can't wait!
