Purple Sticky Rice, 1lb.

I was happy with this purple sticky rice. It was packaged nicely and tasted great. It's a hard to find this gourmet item in the United States. They eat it a lot of this in Asia. According to what I've read online, it is equivalent to black sticky rice as well. I feel like it's something you would pick up at the Farmer's market. This brand comes from Ohio. I like supporting local small businesses. It's kind of pricey but if you are into international cooking and aren't interested in running around to find this in Asian markets it's a nice treat to purchase for yourself on Amazon. Purple sticky rice is really good for you. It is full of antioxidants, fiber, protein and iron. It is gluten free. I do have to warn you though that there are no directions on the back of the package on how to cook the rice nor any recipe. I highly suggest finding a recipe from the internet to follow along if this is your first time cooking it. I also soaked it overnight which wasn't on my recipe but I was taught to alway soak my rice. I made purple sticky rice pudding from a recipe I found online. I would definitely buy this product again!

This is a tasty rice. It took me awhile to figure out how to cook it thoroughly. I am used to using white long grain rice, so I started cooking this the same way. Ratio of water to rice is about 2 to 1. LIke the white rice, I add a smidgen more water than 2X. The white rice usually cooks up in about 20 minutes. This took a little bit longer than that (in the microwave). I just kept heating it up until it was tender and done. It doesn't finish quite like white rice, as it cooks as its name's description, a bit sticky. But I loved the taste. I will definitely buy this again.

I had purple jasmine rice at my sister's and have craved it's pleasant nutty flavor ever since. She blended it with white jasmine rice and I have tried it both blended and unblended. Unblended tastes great but appears more black than purple. I blend it about 1/3 purple with 2/3 white and it still tastes great plus has the beautiful purple color. It takes a little longer to cook in the rice cooker so I add a little extra water (1/2 cup more than usual) and it comes out fine. I season it only with a little bit of butter and can't get enough of it!

It says purple sticky rice but it’s not sticky, it’s plain purple rice. I wanted to make Thai purple sticky rice with mango but it’s not the right one for it. Disappointed!

Purple Sticky Rice.. exotic looking.. doesn't taste purple..has a nice "nutty" aroma while cooking and a similar taste. Good healthy, cheap, way to impress your guests.

Tried to cook at normal rice ratio - 1/2 cup rice to 1 cup water. The rice burned down to the bottom of the pan and made a huge mess. Tried again with extra water, same problem. I'm not sure if you have to use a cast iron pan for this, but it went in the garbage, after cleaning up the mess twice I won't bother with this again.

Rice is excellent quality though pricey..probably won't order again. Black rice is nearly the same and a better value.
