It works beautifully right out of the box
I'm using this product with my two 100-Watt Renogy mono-crystalline solar panels. It's charging a 12V battery during the day and running lights from the battery at night. The entire system is off-grid and is working in a completely dry environment that experiences the full range of America's North East temperature range. (I.E., Approximately 0-degrees F to 100-degrees F.) It works beautifully right out of the box. I'm using the SunLight to time control 12-V LED pathway lights and re-charge a 12V flooded battery.) (I've successfully tested the SunLight's various built-in timing functions to control the load (ie LED path lights) ) I've observed perfect operation of the system, as well as automated shut-down when the battery charge level drops too low. I have no complaints and so far (~5 months) it works perfectly. I like the product.

Incredible AT First, Problems Now
This is a great product that not only works as expected but it was also easy to install. My garden uses extensive yard and deck lighting, all of which were LED or converted to LED prior to the installation of the solar system. This device, in conjunction with a 100 Watt solar panel on the roof and an 80 AHr battery, provides about six hours of lighting after a sunny day.The only improvement would be to remove the feature that shuts it down once the battery discharges to 11.7 v as standard 12v LED lighting is capable of running efficiently on lower voltages without problem and this is really designed for lighting. This limit is hard-wired into the device but making it user-adjustable (or non-existent) would be ideal. I had to take off a star because of the limitation.UPDATE: After using this for a while, I am discovering that with only a minimal load of LED garden lights (I disconnected all but a few for testing), it shuts them off prematurely. When it does, the low voltage indicator comes on while the battery itself still has over 13.5 volts available. A little while later the lights come on again, then go off again over and over. Morningstar replaced the unit but the replacement does the same thing and now they no longer respond to support requests so steer clear!

One of the best small solar charge controllers made
this is a great unit for controlling the stand alone solar lighting system I have in my home and charging the batteries on it. I used to work selling solar and always sold a lot of these. having had one in my home now for almost a year I think it's one of the best charge controllers made.

reliable
The metal body can create shorts easily. A light insulative coating, at least around the lugs, would make this a five star.

Great Product
Worked as I needed it to. I was replacing a bad Controller for a Solar Set Up, for illuminated a bus shelter. I really love this Controller, very easy to set up and use.

Great for LED landscape light applications
I have been using this device, purchased elsewhere for about 2 weeks. My setup is an 85w pv panel, the morningstar controller, car battery, and a total of about 40w of LED 12v landscaping lights (10 total). The charger works great, timer is very clever, device packaging is brilliant. My only complaint about the device is the set point for low voltage cutoff. Most battery specs describe the amount of storable charge in a battery between full charge, usually 12.8 v and a point below which one should not discharge the battery, usually 10.5 volts. The Morningstar charger automatically disconnects at 11.7v...leaving "uneaten food at the table", and requiring that you oversize the battery.I would definitely purchase this again.
