What An Awesome Book
I'm thinking of trying crocheting for the first time, and I've spent a fair amount of time in the craft store books trying to find a one I can follow. Mrs. Hubert is the best I've found at explaining things to a novice without over-explaining to the point of confusion. The step-by-step photos are not too close and clearly demonstrate the stitch. As a lefty with ambidextrous tendencies, she does a good job of showing how to hold the yarn for a lefty. I do wish she'd continued the explanations into the first four or five basic stitches. I guess I'll just have to figure it out, or switch to my right hand. Yee...not sure how that'll work out. Anyway, she covers the written instructions as well as the graphical stitch instructions. There are lots of pretty pictures of different squares, and she's included photos and instructions of some projects she and her family have designed. I love her granddaughter's backpack! Maybe one day I'll figure out how to make it.

Fun Book With Lots of Useful Tricks on Tried Patterns!
Such a fun compilation of granny squares with modern twists on old patterns. The layout is fresh, the colours are sweet and comfortable, and the directions for how to make each type of square are straightforward, even for a beginner. This is a great book for crocheters of all ages and skill levels and makes a successful attempt to close the generational gap between the mod afghans of the '60s with twee styling today. I highly recommend this book if you're interested in beginning your own granny square throw!

This gives me ideas
I came across this book when I was looking for a different book (that wasn't available in Kindle format). I like granny squares. I just don't like joining them. This book has some beautiful designs and gave me some thoughts to some (maybe) future projects. It made me think of what I could possibly do for my daughter when she gets older. Yes, I know, I shouldn't be thinking about when she gets older and I need to make stuff for her house, but that was what I was thinking about as I looked through this book. It gave me some ideas and made me think I should probably start my hooks going!

Great All-Around Crochet Book!
I love the different squares that you can make and I also loved the fact that this book is spiral bound. It is often difficult to hold books on a specific page because the book wants to flop one way or another. This book has all the basic stitches to assist those who are new to crochet as well as a section on reading instructions, to include basic diagram symbols for graph patterns. There is also a section on various joining techniques. What is Truly unique about this book is that it goes beyond the basic squares and how to put them together, and also includes other items that you can make with your granny squares. Everything from edgings, to purses, to jewelry, to clothing! I am totally impressed by the overall layout of this book, as well as the patterns included. Whether you are a beginner to the world of crochet, or you are advanced, this book has a little of Everything to hold your interest!

Wonderful Book and Easy to Follow!
I LOVE this book! I have found it easy use, clear pictures of each motif, clear diagrams, and well-written "recipes". I didn't have any expectations when I ordered it. Even though I've crocheted since I was a kid, my projects were with simple, repetitive basic stitches. Diagrams? What are those? Before using this book, diagrams were like a foreign language. Using the instructions and motif pictures with the glossary of symbols, the diagrams turned out to be greatly helpful; and then I began to understand them. It was an unexpected bonus. There are a such a great variety of motifs and the size of them is perfect for me. Do yourself a favor and get this book; it will be a classic.

Beautifully Illustrated - Crystal Clear Directions
This is a wonderful book for crocheters who love granny squares. The first part of the book has patterns for several types of squares - a variety of lacy and solid. The remaining pages have patterns for other projects using the squares such as a backpack, vest, yoga tunic, placemat. Actually, that is what promoted me to by the book - the project patterns. It is wire bound which makes it easier to look through. Also, hardback with beautiful illustrations.

wonderful book!
This is such a beautiful book; if you crochet grannies, you just have to buy it! When I had it sitting out, I would pick it up and peruse it, just for the pleasure of it. I took one of the squares' pattern and crocheted a throw blanket in all the shades of my Iris garden. Turned out quite well! Easy to use, with both written and charted instructions for each square, and a helpful full-color photo of each. This is honestly my favorite crochet pattern books, and I must have hundreds! Thank you, Ms Hubert!
