No vibrations. When the caterpillar is stretched out it plays music as it compresses. You never know which toy is going to be a hit but my 7 month old loves this toy!

What songs/music does it play?

It plays just one tune. It's a cute tune but not one I recognize.

Has anyone tried putting this in the wash on gentle cycle or putting in bowl of soapy water?

I have put it in the wash and it still plays music just fine.
