Possibly the worst book ever!!!
Absolutely rubbish book. Read like a selection of random clippings from an advertisement pamphlet for their algae photobioreactor. Information and descriptions were so incomplete. There was no complete or linear description of how to use or build an algae bioreactor. Often the same sentence or even paragraph was repeated. There was only a handful of very low quality pictures, no diagrams or charts, not even a single example of the complete process for a single species of algae. Author frequently rambles on at tangents about in depth facts that are of no help to the reader in starting to grow their own algae. Was so frustrated with the contained pages of utter tripe that I threw the book at the wall after reading the last page. It was like reading the insane ramblings of someone who obviously knows the science of the subject, but has no idea what he's trying to tell you about it!!! To put it into perspective, I learnt so much more by watching a video or two on youtube. Don't waste your money, you'll only be frustrated. Besides there's so much information on the subject free online and on youtube.

First- book contains good information for folks new to growing algae
Ok, wow.First- book contains good information for folks new to growing algae, as I am.i gotta say that it's a difficult read. Paragraphs repeat, misspellings, and a strange over-use of quotation marks where at times "every" "other" "word" "is" "surrounded" "by" "quotation" "marks"."Literally"Book would have been half as many pages except for paragraphs that repeat using different verbiage, sometimes one after the other.I like the reactor design better than the fish tank style tho...

Useless and completely awful
The quality of the writing is reminiscent of freshman term papers, at best. It lacks a coherent structure, often repeating the same phrases full of acronymns and impressive-sounding sciency words over again as if their repetition will somehow provide this miserable pamphlet the substance it lacks. There is not much real information to be gained here and I can't bear to continue reading it.

Its good for a person who has no idea about algae or algal biofuels. Written in a very lucid manner and easy to understand but has all the scientific details in place. I liked it.

I found this book to be an excellent source of fundamental details on the key physical and biological elements to successfully grow algae. I have used many of the principals outlined by Mr Kinkaid to design and scale up algae production. I strongly recommend this book to folks looking to get a fundamental understanding of the algae industry.

This is an instruction manual for a kit that is for sale somewhere.
The material was cut and paste in several places. The info was superficial and very generalized with what appeared to be some history and formulas thrown in at the end as an afterthought. I was hoping for so very much more. I even wish I could request my money back, even if only to compensate me for the time I wasted giving this book a fair shot.
