Finally got around to installing them...
Purchased these way back in December 2011, and finally got around to installing them in the dash of my 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan last night. These replaced the OEM speakers, which were long dead. Only the rear speakers worked since I "inherited" the van from my wife 2 1/2 years ago. It's a beater, 15 years old and has over 250K miles, and at that age you just accept some things are going to quit working, and accept it. Except I love music, and I spend way too much time driving to and from work on my 30-mile commute to suffer through the poor tonality of rear speakers that I have to crank up loud to hear way up in the driver's area of the cabin. That, and I had installed a new head unit that has Bluetooth, but the Bluetooth didn't work because the voice of the other caller is piped through the front speakers...which means they could hear me, but I could not hear them due to my dead front speakers.Well, these speakers were quite inexpensive, and the reviews were pretty good despite the low price. So I bought them. But after receiving them, the trepidation of actually pulling out the dash to install them caused me to throw them in the floorboard, still boxed up, where they slid around until the box was frayed. Flash forward to this week, when I decided I would finally try my hand at installing them. After watching a youtube video demonstrating how to remove the dash, I finally got brave enough to tackle the job. It actually went pretty smoothly, the biggest problem being the really short length of the existing speaker wire I had to cut the adapter off of and strip and splice the speaker onto (I just cut the speaker wire that came with the speakers off about 15 inches behind the prong that slips onto the terminals and spliced it to the existing speaker wire).Well, I've had a day with them so far. The sound is very bright, bordering on shrill, so you will want to take the edge off the higher frequencies if you can by using your equalizer (or presets) to make some adjustments. Very accurate in the upper range in terms of fidelity. Not much bass to speak of. Unlike others, I didn't experience any distortion when I cranked up the head unit, which is rated at 4 X 50 watts, to its upper limits. But really, how can I complain? For around $15, these are all that I needed to get some music back in the front of my cabin, they work and sound just fine, so it's money well spent. I didn't expect $15 speakers to sound like they cost $200, but I would say these sound way better than what you should expect from $15 speakers.

Be sure to match the ohm requirements for best sound and use a good amp and power supply.
Great little speaker! I have built these into small enclosures to when added blue tooth to antique radios. The sound good and have excellent frequency range from low to high. They are well made with good fit and finish.

Very nice CHEAP speakers
These Pyle speakers are surprisingly good sounding - especially for this price. Not audiophyle quality, but they put out good sound, acceptable lows, and have clear mid- and high-ranges from low up to "Ouch!" volume. We got these to replace the stock Ford speakers that walked away from the back of a motorhome. We didn't want to put out a bucketload of cash for speakers we'll use casually for only a few days a year, and decided to give the Pyle PL683BL a shot because of the reviews. We didn't need the mounting kit that came in the box, but it includes all the wire and screws/nuts and fasteners you need, plus a grill/cover.Combined with the Metra Ford Speaker Harness installation was quick and simple and they are a precise fit into the stock speaker enclosures. Using the stock head unit, they sound fine, give great volume (without an amplifier) with no distortion and we're quite pleased. In the motorhome, the speakers face each other, and standing between them gives great separation and the sensation of being totally immersed in warm sound. They're rated for 360 watts, we're probably pumping 15-20 watts into them and if they sound this good, I wonder how good they'd sound with an amplifier..?PROS:- exact fit in Ford mounts.- surprisingly good performance for a $30 set of speakers.- crisp highs and mids, and tight bass.- sound quality resembles an old set of Bose 901's. This is the "experience" of the sound, not volume or overall performance, mind you).- minimal distortion at high volume on an underpowered, stock head unit.CONS- in our application, the silver mounts for the mid- and tweeter show through the speaker cover and bugs my sense of aesthetics - but I'm keeping them.I wasn't expecting - or wanting - rattle-the-fillings-in-my-teeth bass or sub-woofer thumping. These deliver a good, deep and natural-sounding bass range - much better than the stock speakers up front. It's a very satisfying sound.Recommend these for exceptional performance at a very, very low cost. Have just ordered a second pair to replace the stock front speakers in the door panels.
