Bought these to replace a failed Honeywell damper operator. WOW! These are so much better.The Honeywell ones run continuously when the damper is closed, fighting against the spring-return pressure.These Belimo controllers aren't fighting a spring. It just turns the damper closed on command then shuts off. Then, when it gets the command to open again, it opens the damper then shuts off.You do need to have 3 wires running between the zone system controller and the damper operator. Fortunately, when my unit was installed they ran cables that had more than 3 wires each so all I had to do was hook up the 3rd cable.Setup is easy if you're comfortable working with electrical stuff like this. I'm not a HVAC specialist, but I do have a lot of experience working with electrical components.The only trouble I had was that the shaft on my damper didn't stick up far enough for this controller to latch onto it. I got a metal coupler that just fit over the shaft (which only stuck out about 3/4") and used JB Weld to essentially lengthen the shaft. After letting it cure for a day, I installed the Belimo controller, adjusted the stops, wired it up, and it works perfectly.Here is the link on Belimo's site for documentation and specs. The contract that installed my new furnace also installed two zones that is controlled by dampers. The originally installed Honeywell 802360JA actuator dampers were failing every year. In my research for a more robust actuator motor I found that the Honeywell 802360JA motors opened/closed the damper and stayed powered to keep it in position 12/24 until it burned the motor up and it no longer worked. The Belimo motor opens/closes and when positioning performed turns itself off until need to mode the damper again. I am very happy with performance as well as installing and configuring easily. I am convinced that I am set for many years to come.
