I'm bolting a 30 lb bat house to a tree. A strap around the large part of the trunk (8" dia.) and two smaller branches in a V. will it hold?

PS: Aside from my tree anatomy answer, let me get to the strength of this material.  This is going to involve some math. o.O

It's galvanized steel. If you screw to the bathouse and the tree, you have one of three failure points.

The first, are the screws ripping through the holes in the plumbers tape. By using a washer or a large washer-head screw, or button head screw, you eliminate this failure point.

The second, is in fatigue. If the strap is loose and constantly bending at a sharp point, it will fatigue and break over time. Avoid this by using the straps held in tension to secure objects and avoiding sharp bends.

The third is tensile failure. To figure this, we take the average tensile strength of, lets say run of the mill A36 mild steel. On the lower end this is 58,000 PSI.

now, how many square inches of material are we dealing with? We have a 22 gauge strip (0.0299"). this is our thickness.  it is 3/4" wide with the largest hole in it being 1/4". The outer edges of that hole are our thinnest point.   So we take .75-.25 to get 0.5"x.0299"

This gives us 0.01495 square inches of material at our thinnest point. Now we multiply this by the tensile strength which is in pounds per square inch.

This gives us roughly 867.1 lbs.

Now lets determine our safety factor. This is how many times more than our expected load the material can withstand. Lets say in this instance 5. that's a pretty good margin.

so that would mean we could use this strap, with no sharp bends in it, held rigidly in tension with washers around the fasteners to secure about a 173 lb load.

If you feel like googling some the modulus of elasticity is an even safer number to use. Which is how far a material can be bent or deformed and return to it's original shape without being permanently deformed.

The same calculation could be done with shear force of the material on your fasteners by figuring out how thick they are at the neck.

Anyways, two short straps of this going from the front upper corner of bat house up to the tree at say a 30-45 degree angle and one small bent piece to hold the base of your bat house against the tree in one spot should be more than plenty

Is this galvanized steel? Can it be used to make a camping stove pot holder over a can?

Yes, it is galvanized steel. I can imagine ways to use this product as a pot holder.

Can I use this to attach at bottom of rectangle plastic planter box and mold on my patio balcony wall to hold on?

Probably not if you are just wanting it to hold its shape by itself. If you can add a screw to the attachment point it would be more than strong enough to support a planter.

Will these support the weight of drywall? If strapped to a firring strip

Not sure what configuration you ae thinking, but the strap is very strong.  Can handle the hanging weight of a sheet of dry wall,  but it is flexible.
