Really good though triple price than it should be.*
I only saw other reviews after mine had dispatched so took a chance. The packaging is different On arrival. Not Korean but Chinese but they are the same thing. On opening there is a glue type smell but it isn't strong. There is a thin sheet between them so remove 'obviento'I washed these thoroughly and that removed the initial smell. When soaking these they don't become any softer. But nae worries as once added to your sauce they soften up nicely! It was our first time trying these and we loved them. They have little to no taste on their own but once they are added to your sauce ( have to say mine was perfect balance of sweet, salty and spicy)Then these little beauties come out as a lovely soft yet chewy texture.Glad I tried them. Ordered some more already but please bring the price down or I'll be going elsewhere for future purchases.UPDATE...........* Since purchasing the price has increased twice 1st purchase 9.99 then up to 10.49 and now 12.99 so Korean food Mart online is where I'll be going. Feel the seller is being really greedy in their pricing this is now 4 x the price of other rice cakes and half the weight! We have a Korean barbeque every four weeks so you've lost a regular customer.

Nice, but too expensive for what they are!!
Let's get something straight right off the bat - anyone complaining about a 'plasticky' smell or taste aren't cooking it properly. End of. Yes, it does come wrapped in plastic and it does have a faint scent, likely because of the preservation methods used. But once you pre-rinse it and then cook it appropriately, that goes away. We made a really fantastic tteokbokki dinner dish and these rice cakes were perfection. However, I also need to make something else clear: these are WILDLY overpriced for what you get. I bought these in a pinch as I didn't have my usual cooking ingredients in. But it is SO easy to just buy mochiko (sweet rice) flour and make your own tteok for a fraction of the cost. Bear this in mind and don't unnecessarily give away your money to opportunistic vendors.

It was good!
Okay so i saw all these reviews about it smelling and containing plastic which deterred be but i accidentally ordered it. I didnt wanna go through the hassle of returns so I kept it. Yday i cooked it. Its vaccuum packed with a thin piece of plastic to separate the 2 layers. It stank of pva glue and i was really scared. Parts of the rice cakes where the plastic was touching was shiny and i thought it had plastic on it but you couldnt peel anything off. Scarping it only takes rice cakes crumbs off. They were really hard and difficult to separate even with a knife but I managed. When it came to cooking i soaked them in hot water from the kettle fkr about 10 mins whilst working on my sauce and then I add them in there. I was soo worried it wasnt going to taste nice but it was perfrct and i was so surprised of the rice cakes (and my cooking skills)

Absolutely Gorgeous
Haven't opened yet, but these are brilliant. they were the first type of Topokki I ever tried and I've since had many different brands. These are still my favourite in terms of size and thickness.

Gross
i never write reviews but i bought these and they were nasty. i regret not listening to the negative reviews, these melded into a giant mass that you either have to waste time cutting precariously with a knife (if they dont break apart on you) or just use your hands, breaking them into horrible pieces. then i cooked what i could salvage and lo and behold these were gross. i never thought a texture could be bland. you're better off ordering rice flour and making your own quite honestly, far cheeper and you might actually be able to salt them accordingly and give some flavor.

It’s great
It lasted me quite a while and it’s worth getting I didn’t get any of the mould any one was talking about it’s really plasticy at first and it would’ve been better if you didn’t have to cut it yourself it alright though it’s worth trying
