You've always wanted a 12-string--get this one
You've wanted a Rickenbacker 12-string forever but can't afford that lovely instrument, they go for 3-4 grand. Few have that kind of extra scratch. You love The Beatles and you want that unmistakable jingle jangle sound. So what to do? You get online, pull up a ton of videos and narrow your choices to other guitar makers, that's what you do. After extensive research I selected the 59X. Here's why:First of all, it's just a cool looking guitar. Gorgeous lines, beautiful headstock, gorgeous finish. Really like the chrome knobs to complete the retro feel, love the look of not only the offset neck pickup but the neck itself is cut at an angle. Very unusual yet so perfect for this style of guitar. You'll have several color choices but I went with the tuxedo black because it's the same design Jimmy Page had on his six-stringer. If it's good enough for Jimmy then it's definitely good enough for me. Weight distribution is even and very comfortable, light yet solid. The neck is Pao Ferro wood which has a somewhat unfinished look. Very smooth and very playable neck but I didn't like the look. The solution is to get the Fender Fingerboard Remedy and slather it on. Expensive but definitely worth it, your neck will darken up and look better, the Remedy is highly recommended. Tuners kept everything in tune, frets professionally installed and filed with no issues, low action absolutely rock solid perfect--very nicely set up from the get-go. Even for small hands this is a 12-stringer that's easy to play.Okay but how does it sound? Like an absolute most beautiful dream. All single coils sound clean bright and beautiful. Five switchable pickup options will provide warm tonality from bright and sparkly (but never shrill) to a surprising but pleasing growl on the neck pickup. Tuner knobs smooth and responsive, you can dial in some serious sweet tone. I have a Les Paul studio, a vintage Strat, some Telecasters but I seriously cannot put this particular guitar down, I play it ALL THE TIME. So get online, find those demo videos to compare and I'm feeling positive this is the guitar you'll be waiting by the mailbox to arrive. Twelve string bang-fer-buck is right here--very highly recommended.
