Works as advertised and appreciate the product line
I'm still on the fence with this product as I am a traditional tru-oil kind of guyNot sure I did everything properly and did have some trouble with the product being tacky but think with experience one can get around that with proper application but my project was a rifle stock so none of the instructions really applied .I put on one coat and sanded it off feeling that it was more of a plastic feel and look more so than the hand rubbed oil finish I'm going for on this antique rifle but feel I will be useing it for other projects where it's properties are more desirable and I'm referring to a more durable finish but I will be farting around with it because I like the fact that it's similar to a simple oil finish and low tech application

Works Perfectly
I have used several grain fillers and this is by far the best. Sets up really quickly when exposed to sunlight. Takes very little to complete my projects. Use sparingly!! I work mostly with walnut and mahogany and have always been frustrated with other grain fillers and clear coats. Before using this product, it would take days and several coats of spraying and sanding to get the results I got with this product in one coat. I use a small sponge "brush" to apply a very, very thin coat. You will know if it is too thick because it will bubble up. Allow the brush strokes to settle for a minute or so and then expose to sunlight for 2-3 min. After the entire project is covered, I use 0000 steel wool to sand the entire product and then coat with an aerosol top coat. Comes out perfect! No grain dimples and the finish is like glass. If you want a thicker coat for heavily used wood items continue with the 0000 steel wool and recoat with aerosol urethane until the desired thickness is achieved. Cuts project time by more than half. It is expensive, but worth every penny because it works and only a small amount is needed to fill the grain. Use Sparingly!!!

Good—not great. Wear a mask.
So the manufacturer says it is “virtually zero odor” which is like me saying getting kicked in the balls causes virtually no pain. This stuff has a VERY strong odor and I would highly recommend wearing a ventilator. My entire garage stinks from a small test application. Secondly, I’ve been testing in SoCal on a sunny day and it is taking longer than 10 minutes to cure.Pros: Once it finally did cure—about 20 minutes—it sands very easily and I was able to get a nice smooth surface.Overall, Solarez is good, but not great. It’s a little finicky to work with and doesn’t cure anywhere near as fast as claimed, but the end result was really good.

NOT AS REPRESENTED
I purchased this product with high expectations. What I got was a huge disappointment!I followed instructions for application, curing and sanding. On a bright sunny day, I applied the product as per the instructions (away from sunlight).I immediately set it in direct sunlight over 30 minutes. When I retrieved it, it was still tacky to the touch and certainly not ready to sand!Even after 24 hours it still had this plastic, sticky texture.Fortunately, I only bought the small bottle!I definitely would NOT recommend this product!Another thing that I’d like to point out is the“LOW ODOR “ could not be further from the truth!!

Amazing stuff!
Waited until I had a nice sunny day to try out this product. Used it exactly as directed. Results were amazing. A solid mahogany guitar body. With NO visible wood grain after painting.Easy to sand cures quickly. What more could you want?

Best Grain Filler I've Used
It took me a while to figure this stuff out, I have to admit. It never seemed to stick to the wood and came off when I sanded it at first. Glad I didn't give up on it. The trick (for me at least) is to put an ultra thin coat on the wood first. As thin as you can get.( I used a super fine brush). Take it outside and let it cure for like 5 minutes. Then bring it back in and after a few minutes rest,, take it outside again for a few more. Next, I added a thicker coat, repeated the process and left it for a couple of hours. When I came back and sanded it, it turned out perfect. It powders up beautifully and leaves the absolute smoothest surface for painting. It's pretty unreal, actually. I will never use another grain filler. BTW, I build electric guitars and for opaque finishes, it's just about the best thing there is.
