I learned of this product back in the early 2000's when vacationing in Hawaii. I thought it was snake oil, but being a teenager and a budding (wannabe surfer) I bought a tin and didn't think too much of it. It was advertised as an "alternative to rash guards when bodyboarding", but that's not what should have been the pitch.The pitch should be this: "THE MOST AMAZING EVERYTHING BALM YOU WILL EVER BUY".I swam competitively for over 15 years, and this is the only thing that has moisturized my skin during 20+ hours of swim practices while at BYU without creating a chemical burn effect most other lotions had. This even did the trick when the pool manager upped the chlorine content over 4 times the standard amount for an entire season.Beyond swimming, I use this for bug bites, dry skin, irritated skin, and most rashes and sunburns. Whatever they put in this does wonders for quite literally any skin irritation.But now, I use it as an amazing sports-lubricant for triathlons and cycling. This stuff worked great for a half ironman I did last year helping eliminate rubbing of the wetsuit during the swim, Chamois-area chafing during the ride through a torrential downpour, and even had enough lasting power to keep me nice and comfy during the half marathon at the end. I don't know why this stuff isn't advertised more, it beats "Bodyglide" hands down in my book. Besides, it's all natural and stuff so even the most "berkley" of folks will appreciate it.Get this stuff and throw away all other creams and salves for dry skin and use it to conquer your next (or first) ironman!

This stuff is awesome! Great smell too! I use it when I go running on my lips, also if I get a blister! It’s very soothing!

This salve is a lifesaver! It works incredibly well for soothing sunburns, minor rashes, and dry skin after a long day at the beach or lake. The natural ingredients feel great on the skin, and it absorbs nicely. I highly recommend giving this product a shot. It’s a must-have for any outdoor adventure!

Great salve- smooth and effective.

I was introduced to this product by a friend who provided it to me to relieve a green-headed fly bite when I was at her beach house this summer. It was exceptionally soothing and immediately relieved the sting and itch associated with the bite! Just a very small container is a bit pricey, BUT it is made of quality ingredients; has a pleasant odor; goes on very easy; feels rich, smooth, and creamy on your skin; is non-sticky/non-greasy; and works well to sooth and calm the affected area of skin to which it is applied. I recently purchased a small canister of my own and carry it in my day pack so I have it with me daily wherever I go!

Found this product while on vacation in Kauai and got a wicked bad sunburn. I tried the ointment in the shop and it instantly relieved the pain. I have always made sure to have some and have ordered for gifts for family that live in Florida. I have used it for sunburn, rashes, chapped lips, bug bites, and dried cracked feet. It works great for razor burn as well. It smells amazing too. Great product!

Bought this for the first time while on vacation in Hawaii to treat my sunburn. Worked beautifully. Back in the states. A year later, I found myself sunburned again. Needless to say I bought this product again and it saved my skin from a long duration of sunburn! Great product!

I’ve been using Surfer Salve as a facial lotion for over 10 years. Honestly, I don’t know why this company doesn’t market it as more things - like facial, lip, scalp care, etc.I use it as my one and only facial moisturizer, and it’s the only one I’ve ever used that doesn’t cause breakouts eventually. I’ve also read that the types of oils used in this product have a natural SPF 5. I like how my makeup sits and wears on top of it (as long as you let it soak into your skin for a few minutes first, and make sure to rinse your face first and put it on when your skin is still moist - it will absorb better that way.) I also use it on sunburns to heal them immediately, and I use it in place of neosporin if I don’t have any (I like to think the tea tree oil provides a bit of antimicrobial help for wounds). I even put it on my dog’s paws when he has an allergic reaction to certain types of grass! It’s non-toxic, chemical-free, and the odor/astringent taste of it keeps him from licking his paws! It seems to soothe his skin - he likes when I put it on him… we have a little spa session, haha. The smell of the essential oils in the product seems to also work as a natural insect repellent. I put it on my legs to keep mosquitoes away.Anyway, I can’t say enough good things about surfer salve, and I wanted to write this review years ago! My husband and I both use this product every day and we go through a tin every 2-3 months. We couldn’t function without it! And being from Hawai’i, it makes me happy to use a locally made product.
