My Story

Highly recommended
I have read all the books written by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai. This book is without question the best. He tells his story in a most compelling manner -- honestly, I could not put the book down and read it straight through. Although I am a person who has lived in the Middle East and traveled there for many years, I had no way of knowing the personal story of this Sheikh, although I have always admired how he focused on the financial health of his country, as well as what was beneficial to the citizens of Dubai. From his childhood to his present day, the reader learns many details that are very interesting and would not be known if not written by this man. I wish that every single man or woman who holds the top position in every county would write such a book, as it would make the world more understanding of the personal battles they all face. I hope that readers of my review will take the time to get this book, read it, and dwell on the life of another.

Very well written
Great book on how Dubai came to be the amazing place it is. Well written insights on their culture and government. Loved all the intimate stories of his childhood and his love for horses.

I enjoyed this book
I enjoyed the fact that this book was personal as well as historical. It told of the struggles and the triumphs. It seemed a bit idealized but l know that was because it was written by someone who loved their country. I honestly believe that other nations could benefit from some of their policies....l have recently visited Dubai and Abu Dhabi and they are beautiful cities - l was very impressed....

An absolutely wonderful read!
Because I want to learn about the culture and beliefs of the Muslims I read this book. I admire their dedication to their religion and believe their devoutness to it is reason for their success. This book tells the story of being raised in order to be a leader and servant to the people. These folks are not only wealthy, but also wise.

50 Lessons on Leadership
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the vice president, prime minister, and minister of defense of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as well as the ruler of Dubai, has written a fast-paced insightful autobiography. He provides 50 milestones in his life to cover 50 years of public service. The devotion to building a strong and well-defended nation in the first years of independence are interwoven with a primary focus on the welfare of the people. One learns here the inside story of the political, financial, and management issues in the great projects that now characterize the UAE. As a long-time visitor to the UAE, I was drawn into the vision, execution, and guiding principles that drove the development we now experience.
