Great Taste and Fragrance
My wife and I have at least one hobby in common and that is that we both love to cook. When making Asian dishes she usually does most the heavy lifting including sourcing ingredients. She picked this one after trying a couple of others just to see the difference. There were no "bad" ones, but this one seems to have a bit more depth of flavor. Maybe their toasting method is different or something. We have used it in several dishes, including in some non-Asian ones just to experiment a bit and it proved very versatile. It has a smoke point of about 410º so it is relatively on the higher end and good for frying and sautéing, although I wouldn't use it in the place of Avocado oil, Safflower oil or Canola oil for things like searing. It has a goofy lid mechanism that takes some getting used to and I'm not sure why a regular screw on cap couldn't be used, but the other ones we tried were the same, so I guess it must be a thing in Japan. Also, I found it amusing that the can featured in the product photographs is all dented up and ours is too. It doesn't affect anything, but I got a chuckle out of it.

Almost impossible to reseal once opened
The oil has a fantastic roasted sesame taste. My only issue is the cap which is difficult to open and almost impossible to close and reseal. I don't understand why they would use a cap that is so user unfriendly.

Sleeper Sesame oil hit
Shirakiku is a great old-school Japanese brand of sesame oil, and is every bit as good as the bigger names from Japan and Korea. I will say, if Shirakiku had the Ottogi brand spout (which is a work of genius) then I would love it even more, but as it is, it's still wonderful and usually the cheapest bulk roasted Sesame oil. I find Kadoya, Ottogi, and Shirakiku (the BIG 3) are all quality oils, but each has a somewhat unique flavor due to their individual processing. Shirakiku to me has the freshest flavor (though I don't believe it's actually fresher than the other two) and it has almost a greener, more peanut buttery flavor than the others, which lends itself very well to almost any recipe. Sesame oil is the only oil I use anymore. Pro tip-the cap is easier to remove than you think, just look for the flat metal circle and unflatten it, pull up, and when you pour, the flat plastic piece around the neck should be lined up in the direction that you pour the oil and is meant to direct the oil flow into whatever you are pouring it in. I've seen so many people tear it off and then complain about how hard this oil is to pour, when it's 100% user error. Enjoy!

Best tasting Sesame Oil !!
Bought a can of this. But when I finally got it out (fill a small empty sesame oil bottle) and transfer enough to fill it. But, I got the can out, and was dumb-founded, "how do I open this? no instructions".. So I came back to this page after asking U2B, how do I open this.. and most of the time they showed other cans, with the serrated cap, you press and hold and turn.. But on this can, totally different top.. so I WAS SO GLAD who ever did it, put up a step by step how to open.. and the first two frames showed.. OMG it was so much easier to do that all the rest of those cans of sesame oil.. find the pull top ring and just pull .. done.. LOL.. I'll never by a different brand.. I hope this Japanese manufacturer never goes out of business.. I always buy my oils, in bulk.. refilling your normal container is just smart.. less plastic bottles to poison the environment.. be conscious, find ways to do this for all your bulk buys.. bulk buys are Always less expensive..

Great quality and price
Great find. 100% sesame oil. Very good quality and taste. Only downside you have to watch the spill from the round pour. A plastic piece comes with it but does not help. I had to pour into a bottle to be able to reduce spill. But this is almost all sesame seed oil brands in a large can.

Good quality
Good quality. Haven’t cooked with it. I just use it for lamp oil. Has a strong sesame aroma when burnt.
