I built some gear cases and wanted to keep them securely closed in transit. I searched far and wide to find these. They are very large, and easy to use. I believe they are very functional but also complement both the looks and the sturdiness of the boxes. When paired with the matching corner protectors, they create a very sturdy box solution. The latch can be either side or top mounted by reversing how you screw it on. Look at the attached pictures to see a top mounting method. These are very thick steel; they protect the box and help hold it together by securely holding the latched portion in place. As you turn the butterfly lever, there’s a cam inside that winds down the extended portion and really tightly holds everything in place.After working with some expensive commercial travel boxes, I decided to build my own. Using these latches along with corners and side clamps I was able to fabricate my own boxes out of ¾” ply that are just as sturdy as the professionally made very expensive boxes. With the combination of the great latches, secure corners and edge clamp pieces I now have a very solid case for my generator. I added the worn look to the wood prior to staining it. great product. heavy duty.ordered several hundred over a couple month period.the packaging is very bad. always fallen out of the boxes. the boxes are way to big for the product.they cause delays on orders. cause they don't make to me. before they fall out of the boxes.

Good sturdy latch should wool good for holding chests / totes shut

Good quality, work as described. Only thing that would be better would be a template for marking holes before mounting.

I discovered these through my carpenter friends (prop makers in the Hollywood studios). They make their own toolboxes, these are the clasps they use.Roadies and musicians love these too. Their guitars and equipment are too valuable to use anything else, especially given the abuse the boxes get on the road.I used them for my shop storage sliding barndoors, to keep them shut when I’m not using the tools.

I had a chest freezer that just wasn’t sealing, 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 I installed 1/8” x 1” Foam Tape Weather Stripping, then two of these. Problem solved! Easy to install and use, quality product!

Sturdy, very well made. Call the manufacturer & got excellent customer support. Shipping was on time & well packed. I will be doing business with Reliable Hardware again. I needed a latch that would work on a 90° corner & these were the only ones I could find that would to it.
