California Costumes, Colonial Lady/Betsy Ross, Girl's Costume

This is a BEAUTIFUL costume. It far exceeded our expectations. The material is very nice (not cheap). Details are well done, including piping on the sides of the ribbons. There is some tulle in the backside to make it "poof" a bit, which adheres to colonial fashion. I was concerned that we would need to purchase a separate hat, but it is ADORABLE. Even the flag is cute (though the blue color is a lighter blue than what you would see on an American flag). The dress is very long; however, you can easily pin it up on the sides and it hangs beautifully. We bought a medium size for our 7 year old daughter. The top fits perfectly, with a little wiggle room, and the skirt was very long (but we pinned it up without a problem). We are hoping to use this costume for many different events...and we are SO happy that our daughter chose to be Betsy Ross rather than Elsa for Halloween this year. :)

My 8-year old have a school biography project and she chose Betsy Ross. Part of her project was to stand in front of the class and give a 3 minute speech about the life of the famous person she chose. She wore the costume for the presentation and everyone loved it. The costume is made well and the Medium fit well on her. It was a little long but she was able to wear a shoe with a little heal and that fixed it. The presentations ran longer than expected and she did not have time to change so she had to wear her costume to her next class. Needless to say she got a few crooked looks in the hallway. LOL! I am hoping she is Betsy Ross for Halloween and we can kill two birds with one stone

Ordered this costume for a school dress up day. It arrived quickly with all pieces — dress, bonnet and flag. The flag had the correct orientation and 13 stars and 13 stripes. Used a steamer to remove most of the wrinkles. Waist was a little itchy but we worn it with tank top and pants underneath to solve the problem. Great looking dress! It received a lot of compliments.

The Costume was so cute. The material wise it is like usual halloween costume, but the skirt part was a little better. The only thing was that it probably runs a little on the smaller end for the sizing. The waist part for the dress was really tight even though it is elastic banded. But the whole outfit was so cute. Too bad my daughter is too big to wear it and ended up returning it. They don't make the same one for adults.

Very cute. Fit true to size. If you need a costume for a play or any other activity involving history, this costume is perfect.

Needed a Besty Ross costume for a school project. So much better than trying to make it and price was great!

Just exactly what I needed for my daughter's school play. It seems to be very well made, not one of those cheap falling apart after 20 minutes type costumes. It has 'puffy' sides (which I did not notice for some reason from the merchandise pictures) but it is still cute. The apron does not lay flat but more droopes down, easy fix with a couple of stitches on each side.The costume is true to size, my girl is 8 and tall and size 8 (m) was perfect on her.
