Sligthtly unwieldly, but durably and beautifully crafted.
Aesthetically, this sword is beautiful. Sharpened polished steel blade, brass fittings, leather hilt with good stitching. Looks durable, feels very solid. The scabbard is leather wrapped and once again, beautifully symmetrical stitching. This is perfect for costume or decoration. Keep it well oiled and cared for, and this sword will amaze for years. Definitely not a toy, or for the faint of heart. As for actual use, it is as they described. "Hybrid bastard." It doesn't fit in any real category. It's too top heavy to be used as an arming sword, and the hilt is too short to be used as a long sword. I feel that this misses the advantages of the middle ground that most one-and-a-half swords have. Either subtracting a little more weight from the blade or adding some more weight to the pommel to keep the length while balancing it more, or extending the handle to allow a proper two handed grip on the pommel to keep the thickness, would make it more functional. Where it stands, it swings a wee bit more like a mace or axe than my other swords, but still usable. That being said, almost everyone, including me, who buys this sword won't need it for actual combat. I'm extremely happy I bought this sword. For the price, it's a steal, and the craftsmanship built into it's appearance and durability are impressive. I'm proud to show it off on display in my living room or den.

Love this sword one of my favorite swords
I love this sword it has become one of my favorite swords I own the hilt and handle are great very strong and well made the bronze color gets black marks on it but you can clean it if that bothers youI have not tried hitting anything with it but I believe it’s a full tang sword as far as I can tell the blade does not feel like great metal but I’m not really sure it is pretty wide which I think is really cool I would totally recommend it also the sheath is very nice and the sword fits nice and snug

Sword and sheath don't quite match
So aside from the brass guard and pommel and fittings being slightly off color the sword is well made, fited together tightly and doesn't feel shaky or wobbly, the only real problems i have with this blade is the edge, which feels half hazardly put on the blade, i'm not going to fix it on my sword personally, not right now anyway, lacking the time or tools to do so at the moment, but also the sword sits in the sheath, it does not grip the sword at all, now i'm aware that swords in ancient times didn't grip to their sheaths either, but the guard should have atleast fit down against the throat of the sheath, but the guard bends a little further than the sheath throat bends creating a stopping point, this can be fixed easily enough with a little grinding but should not be a problem in the first place, other than that for the money it's a decent piece

Value Top Notch
This is a great sword for 107$ its a good sword even if it was priced at 180$Looks great just like in the pictures, came oiled (altho i do recommend clean/reoil)No shipping issues, this is my 34th sword.I only keep battle ready swords in my collection, and altho this one made it into that category it barley made it.I feel it could be used in light combat. But if this sword were to stand against any other of my other battle swords i feel it would be destroyed. That being said it would serve as a stage combat or cutting/striking sword well. Its a sword priced at around 100$ dont expect an excalibur.

which is good for building strength and endurance but in a real ...
It's very solidly built but heavy, which is good for building strength and endurance but in a real fight would be too slow. It came sharpened but not very well done. It starts about six inches below the guard and appears to be done with a carbide scraper as the bevels are uneven and very burry. I used a belt sander to clean it up and take the edge back close to the guard. The sheath is good and holds the sword firmly. I've flexed the blade about 4 inches and it's returned to true, so at least it's been heat treated. How well - who can say? I really got it as a semi-replica of Boromir's sword from LOTR and I'm satisfied so far.

Solid. Functional. Good steel. Very pleased!
I cannot say how pleased I am with this sword! I have no complaints. Even though many complain about the weight and balance, I have to say that I find it quite reasonable and something that everyone can grow accustomed to. In the past I was used to swinging around a 7 pound sword. 3 and a half to 4 is literally nothing. As far as I can tell, the balance is exactly where it should be for a sword of its kind. I think the main problem is that many people lack sufficient wrist strength to wield it comfortably. So, as the viking in 13th Warrior said, "Grow stronger!" The strength and spring to the blade are very pleasing as well and are as shown. For 107 dollars, it's a steal...where Darksword Armory swords cost $600 to $1000, (not to say this comes close to the quality of DSA, but as comparisons go, this is very affordable for what it is). This sword has a very close resemblance to the sword of Boromir from The Lord of the Rings, which is why it doesn't really fit into any real catagory. It's more of a fantasy weapon and less historical. Yet, this is the very reason I found this piece so attractive...because it is other-worldly and something straight out of the Tolkien universe. I highly recommend it for those with a similar taste and who desire something more than a wall hanger.

This is NOT a tempered sword!
I have several good swords, this is not one of them. It looks cool and it's heavy but the blade is not super sharp, and it's untempered spring steel. It's not a bad sword, but a file will bite the blade badly. It will sharpen to razor sharpness after about 2 days of work. But the blade will not hold through use. The tip is also very rounded and not sharp. The sword was sharpened with a belt sander by the maker. It's worth half of it's listed price.
