Better than I had hoped
I'm 77 years old and have been using "used" walkers for 2 years trying to decide what I like and didn't like before I make the big purchase! Im glad I took my time. I believe my purchasing journey nay be helpful so here goes......I started reviewing "walkers" online and went to several medical supply stores to try them out. I also asked other walser users what they liked and didn't like about their walkers. That was enormousely helpful!. I only saw a few people with the "DRIVE" walker or rollator as they call it so that wasn't on my radar when I started out. Once I saw them they became my main focus and I was comparing all the other brands to the DRIVE. I carried a measuring tape with me everywhere. Yes, I did. My husband (56 yrs md) was very patient but eager for me to make up my mind.WHAT CONVINCED ME TO BUY THE DRIVE? Here is my list.1) LARGER, STURDIER WHEELS that cover rough terrain when needed.2) NO ASSEMBLY WHEN PURCHASED THROUGH AMAZON. i was surprised how many people mentioned assembly problems when discussing other walkers. The DRIVE IS FULLY ASSEMBLED!3) 30 DAY RETURNS ACCEPTED IF NOT SATISFIED through Amazon (be sure and look for that on the Amazon Ad) other walkers say no returns accepted on Amazon. WOW...BIG RED FLAG!4) FOLDS UP SMOOTHLY AND EVENLY and FLATTER than the ones that fold the "wrong way" FLATTER FOLDING makes it so much quixker and its easier to fit in back seat of a car.5) SLEEKER DESIGN without knobs and screws that can (and often do) come undone or poke the heck out of you.6) PADDED SLING TYPE COMFORTABLE SEAT that folds in middle7) AMPLE SEATING DEPTH AND WIDTH for those of us (ladies mostly) who are tired of getting schmushed up against knobs and ridges8) WIDER SOFTER BACKREST which very easily adjusts in height. If I have to sit very long, adjusting the BACKREST height is a welcome change.9) EASIER TO RAISE OR LOWER HAND GRIP HEIGHT with an easy peasy button. If I have to walk very far, adjusting the hand grip height gives me a welcome change in my posture.10) NO HANGING BRAKE WIRES to get caught on things. That's such a biggie!BONUS: Not one person had anything negative to say about their DRIVE purchase. NOT ONE!WELL, actually, there was ONE very well dressed woman who's family had purchased the RED DRIVE for her. A surprise gift! She liked everything about it except the bright color! She was a dignified, educated woman who obviously enjoyed being in fashion and color coordinated. She said it made her feel "in the spotlight" I understood what she meant. Having a handicap aide is hard enough without the color shouting "look at me!" I asked her if the blue would have been better and she said No, still too bright.I didnt want RED or BLUE when I ordered mine for the same reasons, and WHITE was not available. I didnt want BLACK as that seemed somber and masculine. But I read that the "BLACK" DRIVE had an generous amount of grey so I went with that color. I would have preferred tan, taupe, silver or cream but maybe the company will offer those in the future.I decided on Black when I read that the SEAT, BACKREST and STORAGE BAG were all a GREY color.Once I hang my colorful purse on the handle or lay my color coordinated sweater on the back I feel IN STYLE and color coordinated! The GREY doesnt shout *LOOK AT ME"Ive only had my DRIVE walker rollator/walker for 5 days but Im planning an accessory to cover the LARGE "DRIVE" brand name on the backrest. Im planning to order a unique embroidery patch from ETSY that I willCover the DRIVE label.REALLY DRIVE COMPANY? You couldnt have made that smaller??My original patch will read PORSCHE or TESLA or "STAY OUTTA MY WAY" " bordered with little flowers. I haven't decided yet.My Grandchildren suggested TURTLE but I vetoed that

This is a great walker, but I have had trouble with the brakes wearing out
As my mobility deteriorated, I realized I would need a walker. I bought a popular, inexpensive model, and immediately found fault with it, and ended up, giving it to a neighbor. Then I bought this model, the drive nitro.I like it very much and I’ve gone through several of them. I use it all the time and after a few months, the brakes seem to loosen and don’t work that well. I have learned how to adjust the brakes, you twist this little mechanism by the wheel counterclockwise. However, the brakes will loosen up again and after a while, you just cannot tighten it anymore, and the cable ends up snapping.I guess it’s because my mobility is extremely compromised and as I stated, I use the walker constantly, I would be lost without it. I use it in my home, it is an absolute necessity. And of course I use the brakes a lot. So I guess it might not be able to withstand constant heavy usage.I purchased a replacement brake, but with my mobility issues there’s no way I could possibly install it and furthermore, it looks like it would be a tricky job.I had a friend come over who is very handy and it took him a while to figure it out, but eventually he was able to install a new brake. Unfortunately, I don’t know that I can always expect a friend or capable repair man to be available if need be. So I have ended up replacing the walker just about every year for the last few years. Obviously, I wish the brakes were a little bit better.I have the tall model and love many of the features of this walker. The seat is a little bit higher than the regular model, it is very comfortable and makes it easier to stand up after sitting. The basket is very nice and very easy to access while you’re sitting, unlike some walkers where your storage area is under the seat, this mesh basket is behind the seat and you can easily reach back while sitting to take out your cell phone or your glasses or anything else. It’s a great walker! It has held up and withstood the abuse from Uber drivers who seem to do their very best to destroy it.
