In my opinion, the new notebook is not an improvement. Half of the pages are not lined, and since I use the notebook for written notes, this reduces its usefulness. Additionally, it is slightly larger, so it no longer fits in the protective cover I had for many years. Adding to the frustration, they discontinued the previous notebook, so you are forced to accept an option that is not as good as its predecessor.
