Head To Head With Other Brand...No Contest, This Melts Away Rust Stains...
I have to say that I presently have both of the highest rated brands of rust stain remover here on Amazon in my house at the moment...This, and Rust Stain Remover, (RSR) in the small brown bottle. I bought the RSR a few weeks back to get rid of the ribbons of rust stains I have in my toilet...They are all over the back of it and in the past it has taken scrubbing with tremendous pressure at an awkward angle to get rid of them. It was one of the worst jobs around the house for sure...I RSR does work, but you still need to put a lot of elbow grease to it...I soak a green scrubby pad and then scrub the stains vigorously and very hard, ( and like I said, at the real pain in the butt awkward down and up under the damn bowl that really makes it a tough job). Even though the RSR was working it was still a lot of effort so I decided to try this stuff...I was a little set back to see that this was a powder not a liquid, but as it turned out it is the best thing...The directions on the bottle lead you to just dissolving some of this and putting in the your toilet but that doesn't work for me...My problem is rust stains flowing down from under the rim,.not a general dirty water bowl. So I dissolved a mere couple of tablespoons of this in a small bowl and used the green pad as I always do...To my immense surprise this stuff made the stains start disappearing as soon as I applied it...Faster, easier, and with a lot less scrubbing than the RSR required...Indeed, make that hardly any scrubbing at all. I have actually never had the stains just disappear with the RSR as clearly as this stuff accomplished. For bowls, it suggests raising the water a little over the lines or stains and then just dissolving this in it and letting it sit for a while...I did that too for the faint ring I could see and it worked as well. But as I said, that is not the reason I bought or needed this...But its nice to know it works well for that anyway...In conclusion, as I said before I have both of the highly rated rust stain removers in the house presently. And head to head to head this stuff is much better than the RSR. It literally melts away the rust stains as opposed to their needing hard scrubbing.. And its even a bargain compared to the RSR making it a solid deal...I hate the rust stains in my toilet and have been looking for something like this that works so well and so effortlessly for a long time now...I give it my highest recommendation...

This works on high iron municipal water.
For 20 + years I had asked various plumbers how to address discoloration on a toilet tank lid underside, in the tank and bowl. No one had the answer. Then I purchased this product for my water softener, but I didn't stop there. I went straight to the shower, shower curtain bottom, sinks and addressed each toilet. It was some tedious reapplication, but they are now like new. I keep one large size of Iron Out to refill the smallest size for more easy application in the toilet tank and bowl.

Water softeners best friend.
First you don't drink it so it doesn't have flavor. Don't poison yourself! This worked at cleaning the water softener after thirteen years. Now running like new. So for the money can save you replacing entire softener. Very easy to use.

OMG - works amazing!
I used this on a badly iron stained (if that’s a thing) toilet and wish I would have taken before and after pictures. It was awful and I was worried I’d be charged from my apartment complex after moving out. I scrubbed for a good while and then followed the instructions and let the product sit in the toilet tank overnight (it cleaned that too) and the next morning the toilet looked brand new. My leaking/constantly running toilet actually helped me for once.

fast acting!
i used it in my sump pump which had been getting a reddish/brownish gunk on the inside walls of the sump. i was told it was the result of iron in the surrounding soil. i tried iron out powder - about a half cup into a full sump - and it cleaned out the gunk almost instantly. i will use it again.

This stuff is amazing on heavy water stains! Our new household staple!
Our well water is super heavy in iron and it leaves yellow stains on EVERYTHING, the hardest part to clean it from is the bottom of the toilet bowl that's submerged underwater, I sprinkled this in, closed the lid and left it overnight undisturbed, the difference was night and day and without scrubbing! I have the whole product line now although the toilet tank tablets dont do much I occassionally spray the dry inside of the bowl and sprinkle this powder into the bottom water and wake up to clean toilets! We thought we would have to replace them to have stain free toilets, this stuff saved us so much money and trouble! I no longer bleach/clorox the inside of the toilet and instead routinely use iron out
