The ERM12 works as described in terms of range and connectivity. However, as other reviews have highlighted, the description on the Amazon website about the suitability for outdoor use is, in my opinion, simply wrong. Although not mentioned on the Amazon text, buried in the pictures is a note to say it is only IP44 rated which is basically splash proof at best. My first unit lasted 6 weeks before it corroded and failed. As it failed, it opened the gates which could be quite a concern if you are on holiday. The Topens support was excellent and shipped a new unit which arrived within 48 hrs of the initial failure. To prevent the new unit failing, I have fitted it inside an IP65 case from Amazon (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09SPD43BZ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title). In all honesty, I think Topens would provide a better customer experience if it added £5 to the price of the ERM12 and included the IP65 case. I am still very satisfied with the Topens gate kit and the experience with the ERM12 would not put me off buying a gate opening system from it.

We purchased the Topens gate opener in January 2024 and although the instructions are clear and precise we did have a couple of teething issues which were speedily dealt with satisfactorily by the very helpful Topens Customer Service Team with prompt replies to any emails we sent them.We have since added various Topens accessories with the ERM 12 being one of them which is another great Topens product with clear instructions and it extends the range by a considerable distance. I would not hesitate in purchasing further Topens gate openers and accessories in the future and 100% recommend them. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

Super product, works perfectly with our electric gate opener from the same company. Very pleased with them and they look good too.

Product arrived with the power wire clearly crimped and damaged . Unit was dead on arrival . Didn’t power up or do anything, clearly very cheaply and poorly made . Fortunately it’s very small so won’t take up much room in the garbage where it belongs.

I have a topens gate opener, so I thought I'd add this since I want more remote keyfobs and it's not too much more expensive than what topens charges for their keyfobs.If you're installing this for a US-style garage door opener, great, but it's not great for a gate opener:1) The box isn't weatherproofed. The aerial comes out the top from a hole cut in the plastic box. The control wires come out from the bottom, and the heat-shrink tubing doesn't even cover the wire up to the box--the 3 individual wires are exposed for several mm outside the box.2) Those 2 control wires are 24 guage ALUMINIUM wire! That means they are fragile, poor, conductors. Topens decided to save 3 cents on this kit. I had 2 of them break while installing into the Topen control box.I got so frustrated installing the cheap wire that I disassembled the box, unsoldered their wires and added my own 3 conductor copper wire rated for outdoor (just rubber sleeved). I then siliconed up the gap around the aerial wire on top, and left the gap around the control wire on the bottom as a weep hole. It was then 10x easier to wire up, and I have some faith it will last the first rainstorm.

Quality product assisting me in opening my electric gate remotely. Would recommend.
