I use this to connect with my old Minolta film scanner. It works.

Well you get what you pay for, this cable was like 8 or 9 dollars and the firewire 800 end wouldn't fit snug in the back of my iMac, just wiggled around. The 400 and accepted a 400 cable with no problem but what's the use if the 800 and doesn't make good contact with the computer. I returned it.

Please let me connect good old regular firewire 400 devices firewire 800 ports. That's great because I don't have any firewire 800 devices. So yes these are awesome and you want some, trust me.

I thought my Firewire drives were going to be consigned to my door stop Macs. With this connector and a FW 800 to USB I can now use my iSight camera with newer Macs

Es ging um die Übertragung von einer alten SONY DV Camera mit Firewire 400 auf einen iMac , der nur noch Firewire 800 hat . Das ging problemlos . Die eigene Stromkraft von Firewire 400 kann aber so nicht ersetzt werden , zum Beispiel bei Festplatten ohne Netzteil , die nur Firewire 400 Anschlüsse haben .
