Great learning/teaching tool
Osmo was recommended to me several years ago. I had forgotten about it until my house became โGram Schoolโ while our world was social distancing. Our five year old grandson initially enjoyed the learning tools I had on hand, but I felt there was something else we could be doing to challenge him. I chose the Osmo Genius Starter Kit for IPad for 6-10 year olds after reading a review which indicated the five year old was ready for a more advanced level. Great advice! This kit comes with 5 different Learning Programs. The child is able to advance through the different levels as he/she is ready. My grandson is in Pre-K and we have chosen the Junior level. These math skills and letter sounds are spot on for him. He is learning to add and subtract and identify letter sounds without frustration. I can see him gaining confidence as he chooses the playing pieces to answer the questions. There are a few games guided by special characters which he enjoys. The Tangram offers puzzles at the Junior level and allows him to advance as he is ready. He is not as interested in Masterpiece a drawing program and is just learning the concept of Newton which is described as creative engineering with virtual balls and creating paths for them with shapes and everyday tools. There is a program for the phone for the parent to monitor progress and time spent on activities. As this is for a young child, I sit with him and supervise. I havenโt seen any clear cut directions for playing some of these games, although my grandson picked right up on it. I would prefer that I could lock the game from advancing until the child is ready for the next level. This was a bit problematic, and then he learned for himself that he was not ready for the next level. I would recommend this for any family. Although the initial cost is a bit pricey, if he uses this as a learning tool the next five years, it is money well spent. This package comes with the base for the tablet and five games. Other games can be purchased and used on this same base.

Perfect starter kit for 6 year old
My kid used to play Osmo when she was 3 years old with their little genius starter kit back in the days. I sold them then forgot all about it and now she's 6. I asked her if she remembers playing Osmo in the past, she doesnt but when I ordered the Genius Start Kit that's more suitable for her age, she seems to remember some aspects to it.Upon opening the game, the process to install and add Osmo is pretty easy as long as you have an account with Osmo. They'll send you a code to connect the apps. We then tried 4 out of the 5 of the games they include.Numbers: such a great game for math skills, there's a whole lot of basic math work - adding, subtracting and when it got to multiplying and the numbers got a little higher - we had to stop.Words: You have to fill out the blanks as there are missing letters in a word. It's a fun game for a 6 year old who loves spelling out words. We haven't gone that far into the game but I would imagine it gets harder and she would constantly be challenged.Masterpiece: This game is a tricky one. I won't lie but I was excited about this one because my kid loves drawing and coloring. Unfortunately the tracing part where you trace on the paper with the help of the tracing outline on ipad is SO SO SO weird. It's hard to trace as you're constantly trying to find the lines and you're looking up and down repeatedly to make sure your pencil is on the line and most of the time, it's not so instead of tracing - my kid just memorized and copied the general outline and drew it herself on the paper. I wish this game was better in so many ways.Tangram: This one is a WINNER! My kid had so MUCH fun playing this game, it's almost her favorite. It comes with the tandem pieces in different shapes and colors and you have to put them together to create a figure. The app will help and guide you all the way which is so fun and helpful. It's also a funny game and I catch my kid giggling and laughing most of the time.Newton: We haven't played this one yet!Osmo has become a daily part of our life.

Love learning through play, inspiring love of art, no additional charge for apps, yay!
I love that my son enjoys playing with this and he is learning as he plays. I thought it might be too advanced for my 4 year old however, they didn't have little genius set for kindle yet, but he's doing great. We were able to use our own dry erase board for the masterpiece app as well and he loves mo the monster. I thought(explanation follows)it may be a little overpriced as the cards are like a laminated cardboard and could be easily worn but it's new and a great concept. I love that they include the plastic storage containers which will help keep the cards organized and from getting messed up. I didn't like that in order to download the apps I had to but a new kindle as the app wasn't available on older models, however I picked one up on a deal so it wasn't as bad as I feared. Over all I am very happy I made the purchase because my son loves playing with it and is learning at the same time. I also appreciate that the apps are free and not added purchases after paying for the setup, it makes the overall price more understandable. If need be I would purchase again since it is inspiring my son to enjoy drawing as well as learning to add, subtract, make words, etc. I also love that as he get older I can get other "games" to keep the learning going as he grows. Well worth it in my opinion. Great job osmo thank you!
